What if the Maquis had thier own distinct Shoulder Colours?

Janeway said that they were all one crew but then she gave the Maquis those provisional rank badges to all the Maquis except Tom, who was already the recipient of many, many, many death threats "apparently" that Chakotay had to bitch slap his crew hard to keep that motley crew from pouring strychnine into Tom's tea.

Where was I?

Separate but Equal.

I didn't even notice the provisional rank badges till half way through season 6, my encyclopaedia pointed it out with full page illustrations. Which made me feel betrayed. I've been on a vengeance kick since then like a fanboy scorned.

Where was I?

The costume department defined the prison labour element of the crew almost invisibly, but what if they hadn't chosen such a subtle hand when pretending these Terrorists were men and woman or honour and integrity?

What colour would you have like to have seen them branded with wholesale other than the usual Gold, Red or Blue?

Ah Misfits.

one more week.

I can't imagine Janeway falling for young Nathan's... Is it really called "charm" when every string of words coming out of that louts mouth justifies homicide?

He was killed 3 or 4 times most episodes, more if you count the timetravel.

Have you seen the webmovie explaining his absence next season?

My ex tonight was describing the difference between American COPS and English Cops THE TV SHOWS, because she's a reality TV Junkie. I dodged a bullet and you could have had it so much worse.

They shouldn't have been wearing Starfleet uniforms.

Well, yeah...this...but that might actually lead to

a) interesting story telling
b) continuity

And we can't have that, because the uneducated masses who watch Star Trek would be constantly asking "Why are some people not wearing uniforms?"

It always amused me how they were dead set against the show having continuity and people on the board have commented how they could have a "previously on star trek voyager" to set up what people may have missed...

except they did that in cold fire...so they apparently did it once and decided "we don't want any of this rubbish" and continued to do that, even after seeing how effective it was on the West Wing...

Voyager admitted they killed off the cast of the West Wing in Imperfection.

They did give them all fairly high ranks...before butchering them...

But Neelix, Kes and Seven didn't wear uniforms and the uneducated masses had no problem with that, it really wouldn't have made a big difference if the Maquis hadn't word uniforms either.

What always annoyed me about "Learnig Curve" was Tuvok bitching at the Maquis crewmen that they couldn't wear bajoran earings, headbands etc., I would have told him to zip it or I'll start wearing one of Neelix's outfits on duty. The Starfleet uniform regulations either apply to Starfleet only or to everyone.

I know and I couldn't understand it...every time I switched on Voyager there was either a Ballerina in Sickbay, or a Stripper with a metal eyebrow...what were they doing on the ship...they weren't in uniforms...

and then there was that poor hedgehog that had some kind of symbiotic relationship with curtains...it was all very confusing...

Because Neelix, Kes and Seven were clearly not human and acted thus (even Seven had the metal bits on her).

Seriously, what real characteristics did the Maquis HAVE that made them SO different from the Feds in the first place aside from not wearing uniforms? They already obeyed a chain of command, they were already fighters who managed their own ships.

At least when DS9 had half of their crew be non-Starfleet they bothered making them visually distinct (Bajorans, Ferengi, Odo) and showed how within 1 season most major differences were overcome.

With the Maquis, whatever conflict they had with the Feds (as the Maquis weren't well-developed by the time VOY began) was never going to last more than 1 season.

There were Maquis on Voyager? I thought it was just that Indian guy and his friends that they picked up.

But I actually always saw purple as a Maquis color. I think I voted pink though, because my computer apparently liked that better.

Giving the Maquis a distinct look beyond those lame "civilian clothes" would've worked too.
