College Football 2011 Discussion

Ugh. My Vols can't catch a break. Justin Hunter already out for the season, and now Tyler Bray out for six weeks. :(

Looks like they've caught a couple already.

On a lighter note, Memphis' AD R.C. Johnson says the Tigers "deserve to be" in the SEC. Excuse me?

Vandy and UT would vote against an application outright. They're barely competitive with the likes of UAB now. In the SEC, Memphis would get their eyes beat out on a weekly basis. Commercial Appeal columnist Geoff Calkins said:
"Why get up at five in the morning to go on a TV program to say you should be in SEC, when there is as much chance that you will be transported to Mars today as there is be in the SEC."
Aside from the statement being clear evidence of psychosis, the last thing the SEC needs is more tigers. Neither Missouri or Memphis  should be admitted for that reason alone. The Bayou and Plains species of great cat already on hand are more than enough.

You know, it realy doesn't matter whether USC is 10-0 or 0-10. It doesn't matter whether they're playing for the Rose Bowl, or just running out the season. The circumstances are irrelevant.

I LOVE beating Cal!!!

:techman:

Memphis to the SEC?? You're kidding me. Their facilities and stadium are a dump and they wouldn't be able to win a conference game.

I can't believe Texas is only getting 7 against O-State. All this "Mac Brown has never lost the week after the OU/Texas game" crap is getting tiresome. They've never played the 2011 Oklahoma State Cowboys after the OU/Texas game. Did people not watch last week? Do they think Weeden's going to be any easier on the Horns than Jones was? OSU's offense is everything's OU's is and OSU has a legitimate running game with Joseph Randle. Gundy will take his foot off the gas if the score gets out of hand like he did fourth quarter last year, when they still won by 17, and this Cowboy team is better than last year.

I will be traveling to damn-near Kentucky tomorrow to watch the Jacksonville State Gamecocks take on the Austin Peay Governers tomorrow. Last year was a 56-3 thumping. It took our 3rd string quarterback three plays to go the entire length of the field and score.

The O-State/Texas game was far too suspenseful for my liking, but the end result works. :techman: Figures that the Horns would settle on one QB and a different game plan that worked far better, but O-State (having a very sub par offensive day) still managed to find a way to win in Austin. That's what the good teams do--they find a way to win. The defense, which was on the field for a lot longer than UT's defense, hung tough. I'm proud of my Cowboys. Damn, I've never seen our receivers drop so many passes. I don't know what was going on with Tracy Moore, and our special teams sure had 2 boneheaded plays that could have cost us, but they didn't. Gundy had words for Moore, and they weren't so nice.

Predictably, the OU fans are popping up and crowing that they beat Texas by so much more. Helps when they're running that 2 QB nonsense with the untalented Case McCoy in the mix. Different game, different matchups.

Please, Boise State, leave the Mountain West conference and stop humiliating Colorado State every year. :( *cries* I don't want to repeat the score, I'm too embarassed. And the Rams still have to face TCU...

Though my boss is a moron who booked me on a flight to Chicago for a non existent meeting, I did manage to catch some of the O-State/Mizzou game.

Nice. Very nice. Damn. All of Weeden's incompletions were his receivers just flat out dropping very catchable passes. They'd better get that corrected. Still--found a way to win by 3 TDs on the road. Nice. Very nice. :bolian: Maybe Eddie George will stop being perplexed at OSU's standings in the BCS. What a homer.

Eddie George has a game to scratch his head over now that the game in Norman has concluded. 28 point favorites at home and the Sooners lose.

Too bad, so sad. O-State damn well better leap frog Boise in the AP.

Oh boy... I bet Skip Bayless cut himself last night.

And it looks like Houston is going to mop up the rest of the competition for the season. It's a shame they won't be able to play any big teams except in a bowl game (possibly.)

I was kind of impressed that Minnesota only lost to Nebraska 41-14. Much better than their previous games against Nebraska (loses of 56-0, 48-0, 38-7 and 84-13), so I guess it being homecoming must have inspired them a bit. Kind of pitiful that I'm okay with my alma mater losing by 27 points, but that's what it's like to be a Gophers fan.

Skip Bayless. What a tool. :guffaw: He and Eddie George need to go play together in traffic. There were actually people calling in to the OSU/Mizzou post game show saying "Go Sooners, Cowgirls suck!" and hanging up. All the "experts" were picking a Mizzou upset.

That's typical, though. SEC fans are flooding the message boards here talking about how LSU and Bama will have a rematch for the national title. No thought of O-State at all. People even talk about will Boise play in the game if they go undefeated? Hello? I'm not saying OSU will go undefeated, but to not even be a thought in their consciousness after all this time and the three big road victories that were called the "gauntlet" (Texas/Texas A&M/Mizzou) that were supposed to derail its season? It's insulting and pretty frustrating to still retain the little brother afterthought status. Thank the maker we have K-State at home.

Was Bayless using OU's three missing defensive starters as an excuse? None of these commentators are mentioning the fact that TTech was also missing 3 defensive starters and their top wide receiver was out. They had to play late on the same, wet field. They were on the road. O-State's starting center went out for the year at Texas A&M weeks ago. Justin Blackmon left the game yesterday in the first quarter because they were afraid he had a concussion. He didn't return. Hubert Aniyam broke a bone in his foot and had to leave the game early. That's 2 of OSU's big receivers out for yesterday's game. Aniyam has been Mr. Reliable since Dez Bryant was suspended 2 years ago. Still, State won on the road. Oy. Still....talk radio should be very entertaining tomorrow. :D

Also, Tech lost their starting center on the first drive of the game. No excuses, Bayless.

Oklahoma and Michigan St losing means Stanford (Who absolutely creamed the 25th ranked team in the country) is moving up. Now the next two weeks things get real interesting with USC and probably the Pac 12 game of the year Stanford and Oregon on November 5th. Hell, it almost seems like November 5th is going to turn into a very big day with huge match ups. This is the time of year where College Football really get's good, until after the championships and then the bowls start and then the game kind of sucks again. Should be fun.

Oregon 45, Colorado 2. Bwahhhh, I love seeing Colorado lose! :guffaw:

Colorado State...losing to UTEP? Really? The Boise State game must have sucked out their will to live.

Michigan St actually won their game against Wisconsin, 37-31.
