Review for The keeper
This was a very short story, but also served as a very nice introduction into Dekker's new book, Forbidden. It not only sets the stage for some of the main elements in the story in a compelling fashion that hooks the reader on this new world very quickly, but it ties the events of this book back into his Circle trilogy which long time Dekker fan's should enjoy.
Review for Forbidden
As a single novel, Forbidden is one of Dekker's best works to date. As an entry point into this new series written with Tosca Lee, it promises to be a fantastic first chapter in a longer, epic story with lots of action, mystery, and unexpected turns. While the book starts off strong and has many of the typical Dekker traits such as intense action, mystery, foreshadowing, and a strong romantic story-line for the protagonist along with a misogynistic antagonist, he also surprised me a few times by the time the book was done. This is a more mature, subtle Dekker and the story benefits from the nuances and twists that are in his latest stories, especially this one.

His pairing with Tosca Lee is completely seamless and I really couldn't tell when one voice ended and the other began. While this book and series has several similarities to Dekker's Circle series, including the fact that the Prequel (The Keeper) ties the two series together, it doesn't feel self-derivative and I was certainly able to enjoy it on it's own terms.
Awesome book, can't wait for the next chapter.
