What The Hell Am I Watching And Why Won't I Turn It Off...?

So, it's Sunday night. I have a pretty lazy day overall. Bit of gym, bit of French self-tutoring, bit of cooking. My brain is nicely calmed and I have a glass of Argentinian red to hand to help eek out the last hours of the weekend.

And about an hour ago I turned on the TV, didn't pick a channel necessarily, just started watching whatever was on and 70 minutes later I am still watching it.

I know WHY I didn't turn it off immediately. Scarlett Johnanson was looking perky and was doing a little dancey thing. Normally, once this is over and done with, I would have realised it was a terrible modern romantic-relationship comedy and moved on with my life.

And yet. And yet...! 73 minutes later I am still watching this, gods, this asinine and frankly pretty offensive drivel internally cursing myself for wasting my time on it and YET...!!

He's Not That Into You... what are you, where did you come from and why in the HELL can't I turn you off??

So... Ever caught yourself watching tripe and somehow, beyond sense and reason, found yourself not switching over (or off)?

Hugo - dear lord, help me...

I watched more of Spike's Deadliest Warrior: Vampires vs. Zombies than I care to admit.

PS,

vamps ftw

This happened to me a few months ago. My roommate came home to find me watching episodes of the show I'm currently working on, purely for research purposes. Once I explained that, it was all well and good but for a hot minute there he was like " :wtf: you are SO not their target audience!"

Care Bears?

No.

Anyone who knows me well enough knows which show I'm on right now.

Nice try, though. Thanks for playing! :techman:

I have, I hate to admit, watched more than a few episodes of Project Runway. I'm interested in clothes but know NOTHING about sewing or the fashion business. I'm interested in what the judges say, but I couldn't care less about the competition.

Thanks to not one but two ex-girlfriends I know far more about that show than I probably should.

"Make it work!"

Quite a few genre shows. I can't stand a good number of them, yet apparently I can. I think that's true of many of the posters around here, though.

Anything on QVC O_O... I want to turn the channel fast from that stuff. Along with anything having to do with any of the Real Housewives shows...

I spent an evening watching a horrible show about dumb guys whose big dream is to make jeans called How to Make It in America. Brief appearances by Luis Guzman made some of it enjoyable. The worst part... I was watching it On Demand. I just couldn't stop.

Dancing With The Stars... I'm now hopelessly addicted to the show and wishing I was famous enough to be on it

help me Obi Wan!!!

A whole episode of Keeping Up with The Kardashians. No, I'm not proud.
Once again, I pose the eternal question:

Why the fuck are the Kardashians famous? Why, why, why?
:brickwall:

Because they have a reality show. Same excuse Gosselin has and all those nobodies on shows like Big Brother. Oh, and also because of a certain home movie Kim made a few years ago and her tendency to - despite complaining about being exploited - do things like pose for Playboy and have the show cover the photo shoot.

I've been guilty of watching that one occasionally. I even watched an episode of Survivor once, but felt so dirty afterwards I never wanted to repeat the experience.
