Anyway, since we're singing the praises of German engineering....

I love it.

:techman:
Motherfunk, that's a big intake! The hell kind of engine is in that thing O_o

If you ever end up out here, be sure to let me know. I'd love to on a photography expedition with a fellow camera enthusiast!

You've just said the magic words to lure me. :bolian: Happy to return the favour! I'm the world's best tour-guide they say. No less than 3 people have relocated after receiving my guidance. :p :D

It's a 2.0L DOHC SFI turbocharged I4 engine. I think it's actually an Audi engine, but I'm not sure (I'm not very technical).

This model has a factory installed Hi Def Body Kit (this is not a standard 2008 Passat). Most of what you're looking at is that.

Well, it's certainly visually striking! I rarely see such a big intake in a standard car around here. I kinda like that generation of the Passat. The downsized on a little on the inside from the previous one and made a lot of improvements, but didn't lose the space in the new stuff like they did the current one.

When I bought it, a friend of mine said "If Batman drove a Volkswagen, that would be it."

Which is, of course, exactly what I was going for.

Lovely car! I'm a bit partial to the 2011 model, i suppose. But thats one bloody great car you have there, mate.

I'm currently looking at a passat myself. An green 2004 passat 4 motion. Turns out the corolla was a bust. But i really cant decide. A 2002 Rover 75, the passat above or a 1993 Audi V8. It practically brand new btw. 75000km on the meter. Same price on all three. And the rover and passat only has a few thousand km more. (82000 resp 94000km)

^What's the Audi? And Passats really are pretty great cars.

And to keep it picture related in the thread, look who was in front of me on the ferry the other week:

Didn't know he drove.

Well, thanks!

I've only had it for about 4 months. So far, so good. The pick-up is incredible.

It's my second Passat.

Bring it On!

I got an early birthday present a few weeks ago in the form of a gift certificate for a bi-plane flight over Parliament Hill. My wife and I used it today!

It's hard to make us out but there we are in the front cockpit!

^Googled it and that looks pretty neat. Unique if anything. I'd probably go with that, because great as Passats are, they're pretty common. That being said, they are pretty common since they are good cars. I guess it comes down to what you're in the mood for.
