Actor spotting

Another sighting of a Star Trek alumnus in "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.", as Robert O' Reilly showed up in the episode about pirates. He played the ridiculously gifted sketch artist of the pirate gang.

In the episode's best gag, he proudly shows his boss a sketch of the room they're in and everyone in it, accidentally including the two heroes spying on them as part of his sketch. As one might imagine, his talent at making crazed eyes and growing scruffy facial hair makes him an ideal pirate. :D

Vaughn Armstrong was on L&O:LA tonight. I can't believe I didn't recognize him - he's my favorite actor! Must have been the mustache.

He played the guy who goes crazy and holds a gun on members of a corrupt city council because they got his wife involved in their scam. Det. Morales shoots him.

Also, Don "Nicky the Nose from ST:FC, plus Donna's father from That 70's Show" Stark was also in the episode. Played the mayor of East Pasadena.

I'm going to resurrect this thread to report that I spotted Rene Auberjonois in a cameo on the sitcom Frasier. Imbd says he was actually in two episodes, but the one I saw him in was "Frasier's Edge."

Watching Eureka on Syfy at the moment, Wil Wheaton is on again, he kind of a semi-regular now.

Too bad the show's been cancelled.

Last night I watched an older comedy called Marriage on the Rocks, starring Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. I'd gotten half-asleep,but a familiar voice roused me. I looked at the screen, and boom -- it's Dr. McCoy with helmet hair and in a business suit!

Back in the middle of July, one of our local channels added MeTV as a digital subchannel, and I've been recording and watching 12 O'CLOCK HIGH when I can. The cycle started in the color third season, the same year that STAR TREK premiered, so there weren't as many crossovers. But once it cycled back to the first season of 12 O'CLOCK HIGH, the Trek alumni were all over the place. Here's what I've logged so far:

Frank Overton of course was a regular on the series
Rudy Solari and Lawrence Montaigne were in "Six Feet Under"
Lloyd Haynes appeared in "Graveyard"

Back in season one:
Paul Comi in "Golden Boy Had Nine Black Sheep"
"The Men And The Boys" had three: Glenn Corbett, Lou Antonio, and Sally Kellerman
Fritz Weaver was in "The Hours Before Dawn"
Gary Lockwood in "Appointment at Liege"
Antoinette Bower in "The Suspected"
Glenn Corbett and Sally Kellerman were back in "Those Who Are About To Die" with Ken Lynch
Paul Sorenson (from ST III) in "The Lorelei"
Antoinette Bower again in "Faith Hope & Sgt. Aaronson"
Stewart Moss was in "To Heinie With Love"

I've caught an episode or so with Fred Steiner as composer of some very STAR TREK-like music cues, and there's the controversial Dominic Frontiere cue that sounds just like the STAR TREK Courage fanfare.

I know that Season Two has a Shatner appearance coming up, so I'm looking forward to that.

I was flipping around last night and came across two Trek actors back to back. First was Olivia d'Abo (Amanda Rogers TNG) in "Conan the Destroyer," then on the very next channel was John Savage (Captain Ransom VOY), I think the movie was "the Coverup."

I love being able to pick out Trek actors, especially since my girlfriend usually beats me to it!

I used to keep a list of Trek actors appearances in other things. No idea where it is now!

Wil Wheaton was in Stand By Me, as was Jerry (Sliders) O'Connell - he also appears as himself in a couple of The Big Bang Theory episodes

Kate Mulgrew used to be in a show, which I can't remember the name of - where she was a doctor in a women's health medical clinic, and she was also Mrs Columbo

Patrick Stewart provides the voice for Stan Smith's boss Avery Bullock on American Dad

The whole cast of TNG appear in an episode of Family Guy where Stewie builds a transporter and 'kidnaps' them all from a Con - the whole episode is hilarious

Denise Crosby was in Pet Semetary

Robert Picardo, John DeLancie, Colm Meany, Ronny Cox, Saul Rubinek and Dwight Schulz all appear in episodes of Stargate SG-1 or Atlantis

Ronny Cox was in Robocop

Robert Picardo was in Innerspace

John DeLancie was in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle

Patrick Stewart has done the voice over on several shows on Discover or Nat Geo

Jonathan Frakes directed Clockstoppers

Ray Wise was in Reaper

Gabrielle Union, before she was famous, appeared in ST as N'Garen the tactical officer of the Rotorran.

Ken Jenkins who is Bob Kelso from Scrubs appears in a TNG episode, "evolution" where he is also a doctor, Paul Stubbs. After a decade of watching Scrubs, when I recently watched this episode again it was fuckin surreal. It's not just that it's the same actor, it's that he gets called doctor by everyone, and has the exact same mannerisms and speech pattern as Kelso.

Great spotting, everyone. Thanks, Too Much - I *love* Brisco County Jr., and while I remembered (after you pointed it outCro) seeing Denise Crosby, I'd forgotten all about Robert O'Reilly's appearance. I have that show on DVD - I need to watch it again.

I thought I'd posted this but I can't find it now so: I spotted Jonathan Frakes on Criminal Minds in the season 5 episode "The Uncanny Valley." I don't want to spoil that episode for anybody who hasn't seen it, but let me just say that he's definitely a bad guy. I'm not a big fan of Frakes, but he does a good job here.

keiko was in six feet under, drove me crazy when i heard her voice and recognised her from somewhere. she hasnt aged badly.

Watched an episode from the third season of The Fugitive the other night. The guest star was William Shatner. The episode aired a year before Star Trek debuted. I was thinking as I was watching the show, that Shatner was maybe already filming Star Trek when this Fugitive episode aired originally.

My kids love watching the Nickelodeon sitcom, iCarly. When I watch it with them, I get a kick out of seeing their principal, played by Tim Russ. On the show his character is very fair, but usually stern and uptight.....almost Vulcan-like, you might say....

Zoe Saldana's new movie Colombiana, opens this Friday (August 27). Promos make it out to be your basic revenge fantasy.

Still might be pretty hot, planning on seeing it.

:)

Thought I saw a brief glimpse of Kate Mulgrew yesterday on the preview for next week's Warehouse 13, checked it out and she going to be on a 4 episode arc.

:)

Did you miss the episode where he emerged from a giant pair of pants?

Robert Picardo was also in "The Wonder Years" first season as a gym coach, and Johnathan Frakes played himself in a couple of episodes of Roswell...these might have already been mentioned. Connor Trineer was a villain in an episode of NCIS.
