DC to REBOOT???

so I don't have a hard time believing that she is genuine about being excited for at least some of the aspects of the relaunch.
I think she is very professional and if DC asked her to write a story about a transsexual Bat-girl who do not fight crime but instead sat in doors self-harming she be doing interviews saying that it was a natural direction for the character and she was really pleased. I take no more from her on-line persona than that.

In fairness, that actually seems like a book she'd want to write.

But yeah, you're right on that count and regrettably I think you might be right on the "patsy" count. You sort of get the feeling Dan DiDio could punch her in the face and she'd tweet about how people shouldn't worry about the blood coming out of her nose.

It's also just possible that it's not in her nature to publicly self-dramatize. Makes her sort of an odd one for posting on the Internet at all, but it's possible.

I think in many respects she is very savvy about the internet - I think her work has on a couple of occasions been brilliant but generally it ranges from average to mediocre. However she absolutely works the fan sites and communities for all they are worth and I think that's a good impact on her sales.

Following her on Twitter, I wouldn't exactly say she doesn't self-dramatize. That being said, she does so only on issues close to her heart, like taking those with sexist or anti-gay issues to task. She pokes fun at the companies (Marvel more than DC, but she did do a riff on the reboot news when it came out) and some creators (mostly in a loving way, but she doesn't seem to think much of British writers, as a whole). Overall, she comes off as someone who loves comics.

Really? That's a hard sell.

It's sort of bizarre how British writers are ridiculously overrepresented in the top tier of comics writing. I mean, we don't even break into the top three.

In rock music we at least more or less balanced it out. But the British Invasion just never ended in comics.

Her approach is interesting to contrast with Grant Morrison - he does interviews but as far as I'm aware he doesn't touch social media or forums in any shape or form.

Sorry if this has already been answered, I can't be bothered reading the whole thread, but what's happening to existing storylines?

For example; I'm reading Batman: The Dark Knight at the moment, the Golden Dawn storyline. Issue #5 is out next week, which is being advertised as the penultimate part in that story, but then the next issue out is #1 at the end of September, and the description for that issue seems like the start of a whole new storyline. What gives?

Oh, and I'll definitely be getting Justice League #1 (Geoff Johns and Jim Lee) and Action Comics #1 (Grant Morrison).

According to Didio, the "Golden Dawn" storyline is supposed to come to some sort of conclusion with issue #5. I'll have to dig up the quote; I think it was said at SDCC this year.

Ok, thanks. It'll be interesting to see how they go from "penultimate" to "final" chapter, considering where the story left off.

Has anything else leaked about what exactly is being rebooted. It seems as if many elements of Batman and Green Lantern will remain intact, but then stories like Teen Titans and Firestorm seem to have entire rebooted characters and stories.

The recent interview with Tony Bedard on The Source makes it clear that Blue Beetle is a complete reboot. At least for Jaime, who is getting the scarab for the first time all over again.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The summary for The Dark Knight #1 mentions Batman Incorporated, but that title isn't listed as one of the reboots. Is that just going to carry on as it is while the rest are rebooted/renumbered?

This could get confusing.

None of Batman's titles are getting "rebooted", they're just starting over ( relaunched) as number ones. Batman Incorporated will start over as a number one at a later date but will be on hiatus until then.

And sometime in between now and Batman Incorporated's new # it's getting a special one-shot to wrap up the current run.

Okay once again for people late to the party or who have forgotten (this thread is long after all) this is what Morrison has been on record as stating about Batman, Inc:

"Batman, Incorporated will continue through to Issue #10 and August’s shocking season finale that changes the Batman status quo yet again. The series will take a brief hiatus while I work on a major new project to be announced shortly. Batman, Incorporated returns next year with me, Chris Burnham and Batman: Leviathan, the epic 12 part conclusion to my 6 year Batman saga. Don’t miss it!”

The special one shot wraps up as mentioned what I think was supposed to be issues 8,9, and 10. 8 is strangely enough still solicited for next week.

Well they can at least start off with Dan Garret again,..and maybe have Ted Kord as a student or assistant.
Oh wait I forgot that Jaime is a creation by DiDio and Johns,...can't have that now, can we?....

You know, I'm actually really glad Jamie's sticking around; not just politically, but it's good to see that at least one legacy character isn't being chucked to the dustbin by Silver Age fetishism.

Jaime has been a character that has grown on me over the years. I didn't like him at first, and not because I had any kind of attachment to Ted but I just wasn't interested. It wasn't until I got the Infinite Crisis hardcover that I started to like him. Then the library got the first couple trades of his ongoing book and really got into the character. DC really put some effort into making Jaime their version of Peter Parker.

Another book that I'm gonna miss that just started is "Superboy". I enjoyed Connor's supporting cast with Lori Luthor and his best friend Simon (I guess we'll never find out what Jeff Lemaire had in store for Simon now) who was not all that he seemed. I always felt that it was kind of taking a cheeky shot at "Smallville".
