Zack is pretty outlandish and excitable. I would agree that we're going to get a more action oriented "Superman" film this time around but I think people still are overlooking who wrote the script (yes I know Kurt Johnstad is doing a re-write). Maybe my fandom is getting in the way of my objectivity of this movie but I remain optimistic and excited about this project.

I am hoping we get a good movie...I would be hoping for a great movie...the cast is great...but I don't want to get my hopes up. As a Superman fan...I want this movie to be big. :)

Somewhere in between Singer's approach and that of Snyder would be perfect for me. I'm hoping that the influence of the Nolans and Goyer will balance Snyder's more crash-bang-wallop tendencies. I've never been persuaded that Zack is the best director for this project but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt (the casting is certainly swaying me in his favour).

You questioned my description of him as socially awkward, though, a description JA backed up and expanded on in his post.

Being socially awkward doesn't automatically make you creative. ;)

It just so happens that Dan is. I'm also a socially awkward creative person though usually I can pass for normal if the crowd is large enough and nobody pays me much mind.

I dont know why but I have a feeling this movie is gonna bomb, and bomb hard. Like Green Lantern hard.

I'm not surprised you would say that.

GL has no brand awarness in the mainstream public unlike Superman and once more people see the words Executive Producer "Nolan" of the Batman Trilogy, it will make the upcoming movie even more appealing.

I honestly don't know how much more appealing Nolan's involvement will be to a general audience or to those fans who are disgruntled with previous disappointments. I think a fantastic first trailer or a cool costume will impress those people.

I don't know why but I had a feeling you were going to say that.

Wait, I do know why ...

And even with the lack of brand awareness and in the face of terrible reviews Green Lantern still opened to $53 million. Had they produced a GL film that got a good reception it could have been a hit.

How long before the non-comics-reading public just gets sick of super-hero movies altogether?

My guess would be when the opening box office receipts start taking a drastic plunge. I think for the most part we're a few years from that happening.

People have been posing that question every year for at least the last half a decade. Longer actually. And just as Deadline Hollywood ran a story predicting that super-hero films are about to see a big decline, Captain America opened to $65 million.

I don't know why some people want superhero movies to go away. I mean nobody is making anybody else watch them in the first place. Even if they did stop making them, there's no guarantee they'd be replaced by something haters would like better. Heck, most of the people hatin' on superhero movies hate on everything else as well. So there's really just a lot of people who bitch for the sake of bitching.

I'm not saying I endorse this reasoning, but typically (at least with movie critics) the rationale is that, if superhero movies "go away," the studios will start making more "serious" films.

The wave has another three years, then it's downhill. Actually, it's already trending lower.
