It's not going to be Omega. There's no way they're going to do a tie-in that big. They're barely trying into Torchwood itself, never mind the parent series. Be happy with the morphic field reference which was an unbelievable bit of fanwank.

Plus most Americans don't know who Omega is. I would think they would want to keep the Doctor Who references to a minimum for both creative and legal reasons.

It's awful science in the real world, but it doesn't seem all that different from the whole Doctor resurrection thing in "Last of the Time Lords" to me.

I had also hoped that Gwen's confrontation with the Dollhouse girl (prior to the "I'm Welsh" remark) would be a little more lengthy than it was. And her showing up stumbling around with her head twisted around backwards later was just ridiculous. I can see something goofy like that happening on Eureka, but not here. The FX of that effect looked pretty bad too.
Yeah, his casting as the "evil CIA guy" didn't work at all for me. I kept expecting him to do that evil laugh he did on Seinfield whenever he was up to no good. What were they thinking when they thought of Knight for the role?

The morphic field was given as the explanation for why so many alien races in Doctor Who look like humans. The idea is that they all really look like Time Lords, and since the Time Lords were first, any other animals that were evolving in the general direction of mammalian bipedal tool-users ended up with that appearance.
Honestly, I hadn't even realized it originated in the real world until I pulled up that link just now. I'd only ever heard of it in the context of Doctor Who's explanation for the rubber forehead problem.

Good. A lot of the stuff on the plane felt like filler. It didn't quite grip me as much as the first one, but overall entertaining. People seem slow reacting to the implications, such as in the ER or the pain medications. Will happily tune in for future episodes.

I thought the best part of ep 2 was where rex breaks the girl's neck and then we see her walking backwards at them in the at car. I am so surprised we have'nt had any nudity in this yet since it's on starz. I so would want to see gwen naked.

Well that was inoffensively bland. I have a feeling that 10 episodes is a bit more than the writers wanted to have. As for Wayne Knight, well, I'm going to give it a few more episodes before I judge him.
I give the episode a good, but leaning towards "Argh what the hell".
