CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till release

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Yeah, like that joke never gets old. No wonder they love us.

At least they can boast of having had the good sense not to follow us into Iraq.

Oh, please. Don't take things so damn seriously.

I'm not taking anything seriously. OTOH, if you posted "Q: Why did the chicken cross the road? A: To get to the other side," would you expect people to respond with :guffaw: :guffaw: ?

I admit it is an oft-told, easy gag. However, you could have also chosen to outright ignore the comment instead of responding with a seemingly holier-than-thou tone.

It's just their good luck that no one involved had the bright idea "If we're gonna fry New York let's show the Twin Towers getting blowed up bigtime!" Would have been tres awkward later.

They did the Empire State Building in ID4, didn't they? Or did I imagine that?

Yes they did since the motheship was right over the Empire State Building, but since it was 1996 the twin towers were there as well.

Did anybody check out Hayley Atwell's Esquire pictures?
Go to their site and you can see them and they have an interview with her, I can't link to it right now.

I saw one of the newer TV spots last night, and I swore the blonde that Cap was with was Natalie Dormer, and if her IMDB page is anything to go by it was.:bolian: I really liked her in The Tudors, so I'm glad to see she appears to still be doing pretty well for herself.

Oh, I knew the TT were still there when the movie was made. But pre-9/11, they weren't as iconic, which is probably why the ESB got it in that movie. Indeed, one of the criticisms of the 1976 King Kong was that he climbed the, rather than the ESB.

Yeah, you're right and I'm sorry. But you know, I think we've long since established that I'm kind of a dick.

Yeah, the towers are there in Independence Day but to the best of my recollection they don't feature prominently in any Big Blowing Up Scenes. I searched on line and found a reference to them being visible and damaged in a couple of shots.

i think they can be seen in ruins in the shot where you see the toppled over Statue of Liberty in the harbour.

they got hit badly in Armageddon, along with the Chrysler Building and Union Station...

I think someone posted the Dunkin Donuts tie-in a few pages back.

Now Old Navy and Baskin Robbins are in the game.
Old Navy is having a plain white T-Shirt with the movie logo for $6 while supplies last.

Harley Davidson is also getting into the tie-in with this movie.

Man, that Skinny Evans effect is really damn convincing.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

I'm starting to really look forward to this. I love the retro look of it because it's set in the past.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

I'm really psyched for this movie, more so than I was for "Thor" or "Green Lantern". I get giddy during the TV spots. LOL.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

So far everything I've seen for this looks really good. I'm just hoping the actual movie can live up to the pre-release stuff. At least GL had the first crappy trailer, so I was already prepared for it to possibly suck.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

I imagine once Pottermania finally breaks out the early critic reviews of Captain America will start filtering out on Monday or Tuesday next week, July 18/19.

The early buzz from rumored sources is that the critics attending a screening were very impressed!!
Late last week several critics from long-lead news outlets (movie magazines, newspapers and other print mediums) attended a screening of Captain America. Though no official reviews or opinions were shared publicly, word has gotten out that the film was unanimously approved. Surprisingly, the film was noted to be more akin to Marvel Studios' 2008 hit Iron Man as apposed to the company's other 2011 release, Thor; with some of the critics even saying The First Avenger's quality tops that of their Armored Avenger.

Next weekend is going to be forever getting here, especially if the reviews come in like this report suggests. As overwhelmingly positive.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Didn't the critics who enjoyed "Thor" compare it to "Iron Man" in terms of quality and tone? I don't get that one comment.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

^^^
I think some did.
IIRC there were remarks such as [paraphrase]On par with Iron Man[/paraphrase] or [p]As good as Iron Man[/p].

The comment here is BETTER than Iron Man. Not on par or as good as, BETTER?!! Cap "tops" the Armored Avenger.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

just skimmed a piece on comicbookresources with the art designer and he's confirmed it's Falsworth, aka Union Jack, in the Howling Commandos, not Pinky, in the red beret.

he also says that the leather jacket costume and the final costume are inspired by/based on/ripped off of the Ultimate Cap's costumes...
