Some theme tunes should remain with the franchise no matter who takes over:

Spiderman
Wonder Woman
Hong Kong Phooey (if Yogi Bear gets a movie then this is a must!)

The Captain America theme is not quite there but I still hope it makes the end credits!

BTW - It looks like Madame Tussauds in London already has a Chris Evans/Cap A waxwork. I'll take that as a good sign.

The last poster released for the film.

It was also mentioned upthread about Haley Atwell's Esquire shoot. Here are a few of those pic.

I know the rest of the movie going world is deep in Potter-mania but I can't wait for this on Friday. I only hope that Potter doesn't eclipse the films chance to shine and stand out. I've long feared it might.

They kinda missed the opportunity to make Captain America black.

If they went that route they would be forced to change the origin story. Instead of being about a skinny kid becoming the fearless Captain America it would by necessity be about overcoming the prejudice and racism of the period.

That sounds like a whole different character and story. A potentially interesting one, but not this story.

I'd say Potter has a very good chance at keeping Cap from being number one. Another question...are more people who don't follow comic books more familiar with Captain America than they are Green Lantern? This film as good as it looks doesn't have a very long chance to be number one. With "Cowboys and Aliens" around the corner. I'd say it stays in the top three for it's first three weekends.

Here's a tricky question - is it possible that Potter keeps Captain America off number 1 next week?

Potter movies historically drop around 60% in their second weekends, but if DH2's opening weekend turns out to be as massive as it's looking, even a 60% drop might keep it at #1 next week. We could end up with a scenario similar to Sherlock Holmes' first weekend, when it grossed $62 million but came in #2 behind Avatar's $76 million second weekend.

This is the final Potter movie though. It will be interesting if that has any cache and prevents the historical drop next weekend. Unless everyone has rushed to the theaters this weekend and is going to give it a monster opening weekend.

We had it in comics - it was called Truth:Red, White and Black and wasn't well received (I've never read it, so I have no idea).

Maybe, the current figures looks crazy, it's already taken double Green Lantern's total box office - maybe they need to talk the author into allowing Harry Potter: Green Lantern.

We had it in comics - it was called Truth:Red, White and Black and wasn't well received (I've never read it, so I have no idea).

Yeah I thought it seemed familiar...no reason that it couldn't work, but I don't remember much about the comic to know if that was the right approach.

I don't think that matters. Before Iron Man, I had to contend with all sorts of non-comic-book-savvy people (I don't know many comic book people/Trekkies in RL) complaining that they never heard of that guy, therefore the movie will suck and nobody will watch it.

I think it does matter actually because people have brought up the lack of exposure of the Green Lantern character in the discussion thread as one of the reasons why the film performed poorly. I dunno. I'll guess we'll have to wait and see. It has turned out to be an interesting year as predicted for comic book adaptions...just maybe not as successful as studios and fans hoped.
