Takes after her mother.

(For any concerned... the glass was empty before she got a hold of it).

^Heh, We used to have two dogs and one cat... Whenever the dogs got too rowdy the cat only needed to extend one paw (with extended claws) and 'lightly pat' the biggest dog for them to know 'play time' was over :rommie:

I. Want. A. Cat.

You can have mine...my wife got him when she lived alone, so I inherited him when we got together.

I'm honestly curious to hear from a cat person what makes a cat so desirable. I've always been a dog guy.

They're very soft, can be affectionate and are independent - not as needy/destructive as dogs when you're not around all day. I like dogs, but in order to go on holiday I'd need a house-sitter or to kennel one and I'd need to walk him all the time and pay attention to him.

A cat wants to be petted once in awhile and have some food. Scooping a litter box every other day isn't a big deal; my stuff isn't going to be destroyed if I'm home a couple hours late and if I go on holiday I just need someone to come by a couple times a day to feed him and check the water.

It's kind of like having a semi-wild animal living in your house.

I think Robert De Niro said it best....

When you yell at a dog, his tail will go between his legs and cover his genitals, his ears will go down. A dog is very easy to break, but cats make you work for their affection. They don't sell out the way dogs do.

^all Sean said. :techman: Plus they're aesthetically pleasing to watch (when not zzzz-ing), fun to wind-up/tease, and make great purring sounds. Eddie Izzard does a great riff on noise cats make when idling...

I've had cats around all my life and still don't get it.

As for dogs: They're your best friend. You can train them, take them places, play rough with them. They understand your mood, they're always there for you. You can take them on vacation, hiking, camping, to the beach, etc. There's an intelligence there and bond that forms between you.

They are expensive, between food, vet bills, etc. I spend at least $3k on mine per year. And you do have to wash them all the time, cut their nails, brush their teeth, and clean their ears. And pick up the poop. As for destructive, that's one that hasn't been trained, doesn't have toys to chew on, or is just bored. I leave mine uncrated all day at work, and they don't touch a thing. I can leave food on the table for half an hour (did this inadvertantly once) and it was still there. A poorly trained dog is more reflective on the owner than the dog. I can take mine off leash just about anywhere and have them under voice control.

They are a bit of maintenance, but to me it's a labor of love.

I would never get some toy piece of shit dog, but I'll take a working breed over most people any day of the week.

Dogs vs Cats? I've had both, and with all due respect to cat lovers......there is nothing like a dog's love. Nothing.

I've got a Zoe too! (Named for the Firefly character.)

And I also have two cats. Both dogs and cats are equally awesome IMO. Although I can't have *more* than just the two cats due to an allergy threshold, despite how much my daughter might plead.

^ Cute baby & doggie!
I can't remember how we came up with the name Zoe. And Dora came to us already named (we got her at 11 months).

At one time we had two dogs and two cats. My neighbor has SIX dogs. At least they're small...all bichon or bichon mixes. I can't imagine 6 dogs at one time. Although i do babysit for them a lot and really enjoy it.

I've had dogs my whole life and i cannot imagine living without one.

So, Tribbles ARE real. I thought they were made up. And I didn't know they had eyes.

Oh my! They are so full of love and personality! They're adorable! :D

Victor Hugo said it best: "God made the cat so that man might have the pleasure of caressing the tiger."

I have no interest in training or playing rough with my best friend. :wtf:

Dogs are awesome, I love dogs. But I vastly prefer cats, for both practical and personal reasons. I suppose it's a matter of personality. There aren't just "cat people" and "dog people". There are also "catty people" and "doggy people", so to speak: and personally, I can't stand "doggy people too". The pack mentality, the eagerness to please, the rowdiness, the loudness, the excessive energy. I have little interest in leading, in being the alpha-male. I don't want anyone to depend of me, to hang on my every word. I like people who are independent, strong-willed, even stubborn, and capricious. And that extends to my pet of choice.

Obviously, iguanas are even better, but you can't have them in a colder climate... :D

you don't have to take a cat for a walk and pick up it's shit when it craps on the sidewalk in all winds and weathers two or more times a day.

cats = WIN!
