I'm going to start asking women what women they admire, who their role models are. It will be interesting to see what people say.

During my last fan letter to Hepburn (Yes, THAT Hepburn) I admitted to her that she and Amelia Earhart were the 2 role models I looked to, after my #1 inspiration... which is my Mom. (I am SUCH a cliche!)

Hepburn's response? (Yes, she answered her fan mail!)

"Your letter made me very happy."

I wasn't meaning to imply it's a good thing about women hating women or whatever. Just a problem I tend to have. It's better when we can all get along.

You know, now that I reflect on it further, women who don't like Janeway or Janeway-ish women would probably not be interested in going fishing anyway, seeing that it involves killing fish, cutting up dead fish, handling dead and half-dead fish, etc.

I'd go fishin' with Possum! Sounds like fun. I envision a scene where we'd be sitting out at the lake in our overalls and big straw hats, huntin' for crawdads.

I only get really catty when it comes to the three nurses who are even close to my age(I actually went to high school with one of them). And whenever I'm there I make sure to do that thing women do with their rings so the light catches them and shines in their faces.

Most of the time though, I get a long with all of the nurses. They bring me the good food when I'm in the hospital

It was awesome.

I mean... I didn't know what it was the first time I opened the small square envelope without a return address... but when I saw the name across the top of the letterhead...

Yes. Two rules to live by:
1. Screen all movies/TV shows/books/etc with the Bechdel Test.
2. Screen all potential friends with the Janeway test.

Tut, tut, Froot. You have a lot to learn about fishing. You didn't mention BEER. Also, it's easier to catch crawdads in a creek. ("Crick"). I'm not even sure if they live in lakes. Maybe they do. I prefer surf fishing, anyway. But you know, I think we'd be laughing far too hard to actually manage to catch any fish, so maybe we could just get the beer, sit on the beach, and save ourselves the trouble.

She didn't "sign" autographs... so if you wrote "asking" for an autograph she would write back and say no... and of course sign the letter!

I know this, because I saw such a letter in a Georgetown gallery for sale... it was on sale for over a thousand dollars.

I much prefer mine.

OOPS. I just assumed beer was a given. And they do live in some lakes; I've caught a few in the Boundary Waters area and in Canada. Actually, I saw one in the pond out back once, too.

Okay. So, we'll don some overalls and straw hats, snag a cooler of Keystone Light, wander down to the ol' crick, laugh too much, and then just end up on the beach instead. Maybe someone will even end up with a surprise crawdad in her overalls and a funny dance will happen. Sounds like a solid outing!

I think we covered a "sexiest" KJ episode question a while back, but I recall I had to divvy my answer into different categories because it was like choosing a favorite child. Pretty sure "Workforce" and "Counterpoint" were in there, along with the entirety of Season 4.

EDIT: How does one surf fish? This is ocean-related, isn't it?

Yes, surf fishing is just what it sounds like, standing in the ocean with a beer in one hand and a fishing pole in another. Better yet, anchor your pole in the sand - then you can sit in a beach chair with a beer in EACH hand and carry on a debate about which Voyager episode had the sexiest Janeway.

We divided our votes between "sexy" and "pretty" before.

Today, I think I'm gonna vote for "Waking Moments". My opinion on that matter does change pretty often.

Wikipedia says they show up in places where the water doesn't freeze all the way to the bottom, and running water. The lakes I found them in are suuuuper big and part of a huge chain, and the pond out back is part of a really big system, too. Maybe that's why? I suppose they don't show up in regular lakes.

I'm the duck getting duckfaced! I decided I wanted to be a duck. Janeway's taking some time off to have a beer with us (not that a mix-up with clothing couldn't happen, of course )

Perhaps the other denizens of the Compound could list their totem animals and also come have a beer* on the beach?
