How is Janeway sexy?

And found one and made it into a motivator.

The *facepalm* was for me forgetting btw. :)

Dismissive Hand Wave. A term coined by Shatnertage. Best illustrated in the Janeway/Chak dinner scene in "The Disease", IMHO.

How many times must we use "Dismissive Hand Wave" and its abbreviation DHW before it shows up in a google search???? :vulcan:

Maybe the thread needs a new tag? :rommie:

Oh, no, if there can only be four, I think these are the four to keep! (For the record, they are BAMF, cult, gin rickey, and pattern enhancers.)

So, I just discovered an old issue of Star Trek Magazine (relatively speaking, that is. From Jan/Feb 2008)

A few things:

1. There's a Janeway poster, which I will be saving to put up in my dorm. It's a nice image of her, too.

2. There's a review of Before Dishonor, which is completely accurate. Posting the review to my Tumblr now.

Credit goes to imzadii on tumblr. I feel like I want to caption this, but maybe it just stands better on its own...

So a very good friend of mine spent about 10 minutes today telling me how much she hated Janeway and how Janeway was a terrible female captain and made female sci fi leaders look undesirable because obviously she sucked so bad with her "aggressiveness" (wtf??) that it put my friend off wanting other female sci fi leaders. That Janeway RUINED female leaders for her because she sucked so bad and she hated her so much.

My question: can I continue to be friends with this person? What would you, oh thread of awesome wonderfulness do?

 What would annoy me more is less the rejection of the character and more that accursed adherence to traditional gender roles. God forbid someone with ovaries is aggressive.

But I think your friendship can be maintained. My best friend hates both KJ and Star Trek with the burning hatred of 10,000 suns, and even she'll buy me little Trek trinkets from time to time.

Conversion is always possible. Or at least they have to learn to tolerate you. ;)

ALTERNATE SOLUTION: Give your friend a Dismissive Hand Wave the next time she goes on a similar rant. The DHW is proven to have therapeutic properties [citation needed]

You are so generous froot.. I am much more inclined towards

.

..sigh.. yeah my oldest friend (different than this one) does not even know what science fiction is. She has asked me about 30 times what all those dvd's are about, and if I tell her she just says "whaaaaat?? Oh how stupid".

Oh boy . . .

So are women supposed to be like Princess Leia in the slave outfit serving people?

I mean, there are many women in fiction and the real world who make me ashamed to be a woman, but Janeway doesn't even come close on any of them (Obviously, I'm here too much for me to have a problem with her ;))

Actually this friend doesn't like airhead, subservient or sexy women either.

I've come to realize a lot of women don't actually like women. The other woman is always too sex symbol, too airhead, too angry, a bitch.. yet they swoon over male protagonists exhibiting similar behaviour.

I'm about to go see X Men so you are all spared my rant for the moment!

That's true too.

And . . .

:p:p:p:p

;)

Have fun. I'm still here in the dark with an evil sister who has seen it six times now, I got really sick on Saturday and I only started to feel better last night.

Enjoy!

I admit I am the same way a lot. I'm not sure why we judge each other so badly. Are all ladies just jealous of each other, I wonder?

...I've seen X Men too. Haven't you gotten the chance to see it yet, Honey? As a get-well present, your sister should take you.

EDIT: Hello, sleepless DD!
