Our Squiggy is all grown up...:techman:

And your puppy is so cute. I'm getting a new kitten in July, so I'll posting lots of pics.

if is old, it might be worth more that gold prices are up. but I wouldn't go above 700-800.

I'm sure the diamond is worth a lot more than that. ;)

Yeah...it's not like the focus of the ring is everything BUT the diamond.

Good sweet Jesus.

It's a 60 year old, approx 1/2 carat flawless, princess cut diamond on a white gold ring. Interwebs sez the diamond alone is 1,730...but aside from the cut I just had to guess at the other stuff.

do you know the origin of the stone of the ring your giving her? blood diamonds aren't exactly a recent thing

^^^Geez, guys!

Squiggy, congratulations! It's a lovely ring and she's a lovely young woman. Wishing you a long, beautiful life together.

I love antique jewelry. My engagement ring was from an antique shop in the Lanes in Brighton. 1930s aquamarine with old cut diamonds, marquise cut on white gold. I saw nothing in the shop I liked and asked what he had it the drawer. When he bought it out I just said "that's it" ~ a bit like when I saw Man that bought it for me. ;)

Congrats Squiggy :techman:

I'll see your B17

speaking of antique jewelery, I "borrowed" from my dad some time ago a ring, I suspect it was my grandmothers, it has a square Onyx stone in the middle, and a diamond chip set in platinum on each side

Spocked ~ fabulous iris. I planted some this year but they have not come out. Do you get 'blind' irises like you get blind daffodils? Also my gladiolli haven't bloomed either. Or am I just a really crap gardener? :weep:
We basically confined a yardfull of overgrown irises to this small patch and bordered it. These guys have been here years before we moved in, but it was up to us to tame them. I wouldn't worry about the gladiolus - it takes months to bloom from what I understand. Ours are about a foot tall, planted in March, but we don't expect flowers until later in the summer.

doing a garden is like a hit and miss at first. the rest of the time is like fishing. You might catch something but in the end it might be too small and you have to let it go so it can grow bigger.

Are those as enormous as they look? And look how the propeller is gleaming in the sun... they must be so well maintained. A killing machine shouldn't look so fun and kewl.

They're not as big as one would expect. They're incredibly well maintained, those doing it do so to honor the men who flew, fought, and died in such machines.

Thanks Spocked, I'm just being impatient then :)

YIKES!!!

Hanson, was this by any chance one of the planes you saw?

There was a pic in the Boston Globe with the tail number, which is not the same as the one below. But, given the region of the country she was flying in, I thought it might be possible.

Very sad. Just glad everyone escaped without injury.

It was not. I just saw that story. Sad that a piece of history is gone, but it looks like they'll be able to salvage some pieces to keep other warbirds flying. Glad everyone got out OK
