Sci-fi movies involving spaceships or time travel?

If you're going there, go with Queen of Outer Space instead, and you get all the honeys in their tight skimpy dresses to go with your Classic SciFi Cheez.

This Island Earth never held my attention all the way through.

Yes but it had one of the earliest "starships" with a rather large bridge and a commander giving orders, just like the OP requested. I agree that the novella of the story was far more interesting than the movie.

RAMA
Queen of Outer Space i just looked at this and it's from 1958? i was looking for something modern
This Island Earth is 1955, hence why I said, "If you're gonna go there...". I didn't think you'd be receptive to the 1950s, but, I figured if you did take a chance, with Queen of Outer Space, you'd get tight skimpy dresses

Although not really a movie (Although it has spawned three-two loose adaptations and one TV movie)-you might want to give BBC's TV series Doctor Who a try. It's been running on and off for about 50 years. It's sort of the British equavilent of "Star Trek".

And no one mentioned Somewhere in Time

Maybe because people tend to get it mixed up with Time After Time? :)

For the record, Somewhere in Time is the one where Christopher Reeve goes back in time and falls in love with Jane Seymour. Based on the novel by Richard Matheson.

Time After Time is the one where H. G. Wells pursues Jack the Ripper to modern-day San Francisco and falls in love with Mary Steenburgen. Based on the novel by Karl Alexander.

And then, of course, there's Time and Again by Jack Finney, but, oddly, nobody has gotten around to filming that yet. Ditto for Time and Chance by Alan Brennert.

I'd kill for a faithful Finney adaptation.

And perhaps mention should be made of Timer Rider. :) Yeah, I saw it in the theater way back when...

What's that movie with Jim Belushi as the psycho stalker boyfriend who screws up a temporal experiment and alters time?

"Dune" is a very famous science fiction novel which has spawned many sequel novels, movies, and miniseries.

Forgive my bluntness, but where the hell are you from? You seem to be unaware of a great number of very popular and well-known science fiction films and TV shows.

Greg Cox;5012007 And you should also check out [I said:
Time After Time,[/I] which is along the same lines . . . .

Might not be the best time-travel movie ever, but it is my favorite. Good script, great perfomances by pretty-much the whole cast, and it still looks good thirty years later. I especially like Malcolm McDowell's "against type" performance as H.G. Wells.

I was unaware of Dune for a long time too.
