Sci-fi movies involving spaceships or time travel?

There are very few, the space adventure genre surely needs a good injection of new blood, other than SW and ST:

Movies only, most had bridges:

Avatar
Space Battleship Yamato
Wing Commander
The Last Starfighter
Enemy Mine
Battle Beyond the Stars
Event Horizon
Supernova
Alien
Silent Star-First Spaceship on Venus
Starship Invasions
Black Hole
2010
2001
Silent Running
Serenity
Pandorum
Starship Troopers
Forbidden Planet
Sunshine
Mission to Mars
Red Planet
Cargo
Chronicles of Riddick
Armageddon
Deep Impact
Fifth Element
Hitchhikers Guide
Galaxy Quest
Pitch Black
Stargate
Total Recall
Lost in Space
Moonraker
Outland
Saturn 3
This Island Earth

Time Travel:

Time Machine
Timecop
Back to the Future
Sound of Thunder
12 Monkeys
Millenium
Planet of the Apes
Terminator
Timeline
Time after Time
Time bandits

I remember Gundam Char's Counterattack has pretty much the ultimate bridge scene where Noa and crew transition from the regular bridge to the battle bridge but that film requires knowledge of the UC timeline for full enjoyment.

This Island Earth

If you're going there, go with Queen of Outer Space instead, and you get all the honeys in their tight skimpy dresses to go with your Classic SciFi Cheez.

This Island Earth never held my attention all the way through.

i just saw a trailer for 'the time machine 2002' and it looks pretty damn good.

i dont know how i missed it when it was first released.

It's not bad, but the 1960's version of The Time Machine, directed by George Pal, is infinitely better.

And you should also check out Time After Time, which is along the same lines . . . .

Its not bad. It's an elegant movie. It has a somewhat slightly more complex version of time travel, the machine is amazing...but some of the dramatic elements are iffy...

Yes but it had one of the earliest "starships" with a rather large bridge and a commander giving orders, just like the OP requested. I agree that the novella of the story was far more interesting than the movie.

I recall the recent version of The Time Machine was okay, but that it almost completely lacked a third act. It just...ended.

But I haven't seen it since it was first released on home video, so my memory may be sketchy.

Queen of Outer Space i just looked at this and it's from 1958? i was looking for something modern

i remember a movie or tv show where a guy from the future goes back in time, pre 19th century and goes back with a futuristic car that has its own onboard computer. does anyone know the film i'm talking about?
Ummmmmmmm.

Please don't tell me you mean Back To The Future.

If so... I don't mean to be rude by any stretch, but it may help us a little to know more about you: how old you are, where you live, any other reason you might not have caught up with some of this stuff that is required viewing to earn your Geek Scout badges.

Oooo, what would I add? The first two Alien movies. The opening shots of the Nostromo's bridge are pretty intriguing. Dr Who, especially the current series, has an excellent bridge (or control room). NuBSG, maybe.

ETA: Time travel! Just remembered a really good one: Timequest. Done on a budget with mostly no-name actors (and Bruce Campbell!), but an excellent script. Check it out.

ETA2: just rewatched TimeQuest. It's much better than I remember, a gem.

FYI, Star Trek first aired in 1966.

Battlestar Galactica miniseries.

This may be one of the weirder threads I've seen around here in a while.

And no one mentioned Somewhere in Time
