In brightest day and blackest night
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my power: Green Lantern's Light!

Neat! Does the ring light up?

At a glance, that looks like the Toys 'R Us keychain ring, which does not. But it's made of metal and translucent plastic and it looks pretty cool. And some folks are working on mods to fit an LED in there.

Odd that it doesn't light up. My niece got the Green Lantern toy set (mask and ring), and the ring lights up.

Also, I'm tickled that she got the mask and ring. See, her dad took her to choose between a Barbie and My Little Pony set. She passed them both, went over to the boys side of the toy aisle, and picked up the Green Lantern toy set. Ha ha, I'm rubbing off on her, and she's going to grow up and be a comic book nerd! I'm so proud! :D

That ring looks a lot chunkier up front to accommodate the light. I believe the new TRU ring is intended to be screen-accurate (as a collectible), so it's sticking the screen-used proportions and detailing, so not enough room for an LED and battery.

Yeah, but once you light it up, chunky doesn't matter anymore. :D

It's the TRU ring, so no it doesn't light up.

Maybe you can get the toy light up one, and use it to run around the house wearing the mask and lighting up the ring.
Um, not like I know anyone who would, uh, who would do that. :shifty:

I guess I'm just easily distracted by shiny things.

[ShamelessMcBundy;5018738]Green Lantern's really let himself go. ;)

Seeing as this is a picture of myself, that's really not a cool comment to make. :([/QUOTE]

To be fair, I know he didn't mean anything by it. Shameless was quoting a Simpsons line, from the episode "El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer" where, toward the end, in despair of not finding his soul mate, Homer stands in front of the lighthouse and his shadow casts a Homer version of the bat symbol. Bart and Lisa, who are in the bathroom brushing their teeth, sees the symbol through the window, and Bart says "Is that dad?" to which Lisa replies, "either that or Batman has really let himself go". I think he meant it to be cheeky, but it came out wrong.

Oh, I forgot, I was going to post some pictures.
A few years back (2008), our microwave blew up. It was going to be a couple of days before we could get another one, so I made a microwave, in the hopes that dad wouldn't notice that the previous microwave was now a blackened hulk sitting in the scrap dumpster. I sat it on the counter where the old one had been.

He never noticed.

You've been asked (and warned) repeatedly to show more care with the types of comments you make in the picture thread. There's less of a threshold for what people will tolerate when it comes to sharing pictures of themselves, and if they feel like they're going to be mocked they might decide not to share again.

I'm sorry, but given that you've had prior infractions for this and numerous friendlies, I'm afraid you've earned an infraction for flaming.

How old is she? I ask, because they can do a 180 on you. A couple of years ago, my daughter was a huge tomboy, playing with cars and trains and such. Then suddenly, she's all about Hello Kitty and Tinkerbell and princess stuff. :wtf: It was practically overnight that this happened, too.

I like the "not for blind kids" bit.

Fisticoy (my fake company, not my real one) owes a lot to one Irving Mainway.

She's 4. I am a constant influence in her life, and she has already shown a preference toward science fiction and fantasy. She liked Barbies and My little Ponies for a while, but now she's getting into the stuff Uncle Johnnyboy (that's me) likes.
