Whatever happened to Starship Exeter?

I'm holding DS9Sega incommunicado to work on Polaris this week.
Rumors, lies and a politician's promises! ;)

What did you expect from someone who resides in the D.C. area?

As a certain Vulcan scientist would say, "Constant exposures to political shortsightedness and other unethical acts on the part of bureaucrats often result in a certain level of contamination." :vulcan:

Chris...chill...things are going smoothly. Let's not make touchy personal comments. You don't need a bony Romulan all over you. ( T'Bonz )

No offense to T'Bonz, but I'm already spoken for. By a beautiful Native American woman no less.

DS9Sega, if you got anything new to share, you have my full attention.

Do you ever yell "MIRAMANEEEEEEEEE?" when you call her? ;)

I can imagine the response if he did...

In answer to both of your questions, I quote the following from the character of Lars Fuchs from Ben Bova's 2000 sci-fi novel 'Venus'.

"A gentleman never discusses his women(i.e. those he has been with, and the one he is currently with now)."

I don't like Fuddruckers as much as I used to. There's just something...I dunno, unpleasant about their burgers.

Very fond of Five Guys, though.

Dennis, i remembered your mention of this and decided to try this place. They didn't have one here in Dec. I just noticed one that opened here about a month ago near the Wal Mart where we live. About the same price, cooked on large flat hot surface and not char grilled over an open flame. Makes for a juicier burger. Liked the Cajun fries. Nice simple decor. Clean but crowded which makes me wonder if this is what you were alluding to? The music was a tad loud. I don't remember the last time I saw so many people working an assembly line behind a hamburger prep area.

Overall a okay place. Everything looked fresh as you would hope for. I liked the sacks of potatos stored right out in the dining area as part of the signiature diining atmosphere. Interesting touch.

I tried Five Guys for the first time yesterday after having it repeatedly recommended to me. It was really good--the last place I tried that was hyped so much was Steak and Shake, which wasn't, to be honest, that great (though it wasn't bad, either). I'll definitely be going back to Five Guys.

I counted twelve people working behind the counter, and the place was packed on a weekday. Then again, it's the only one in Vegas for now.

They keep what they do really simple, and they do it well.

I tried Fuddruckers in Silver Spring again this afternoon and had a better experience than my last - I just ordered a basic burger with bleu cheese on it, and it was fine.

I dislike not being able to get a smaller burger than 1/3 pound, though - time was when a so-called "quarter pounder" was considered a large sandwich. On the rare occasions that I do a fast food stop at McDonalds I go for the basic $1.00 cheeseburger - at my age, consuming a ridiculous amount of ground beef at a sitting is too much an invitation to fat and cholesterol problems. When I choose to overindulge I'll go for steak, thanks.

Nowhere that I'm aware of in this part of the country can you get a slice of avocado on a burger. Guacamole, yeah, but that's not the same thing at all. :(

My current favorite burger place is The Counter--there are quite a few of them in the LA area but none in Vegas yet (which makes it a rare treat for me).

If you can make it to Reston, they do indeed offer avocado on their burgers. It's pricey--in the neighborhood of $10-12 bucks for a burger once you get through with it--but it's worth it every now and then. The fried pickle chips and sweet potato fries are great, too. But it's definitely not an everyday thing.

I'm just bummed that they're opening them in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, but not Las Vegas yet. Then again, there are already tons of upscale burger joints on the Strip, so I've got no shortage of places to score pickle fries.

On that note(despite the fact that a hamburger and fries sounds good right about now), DS9Sega, do you have new material to share with us?
