NBA 2010-2011

The Heat and Bulls switched roles from Game 1. Miami played sharp and intense, the Bulls just played like a buttered penis.

This Thunder-Mavs match-up is tremendous. Beautiful offense, superb defense, hustle hustle hustle........ back and forth, this is the kind of ball I want to see! Not saying the winner here will win the whole shooting match, but this is my kind of ball!!!

:D

I'm so happy I don't even mind that the $%^&^%$#@ storms knocked out the final 8.4 seconds for me.... :scream:

I hope Westbrook doesn't get his knickers in a twist over the fourth quarter. Sometimes Westbrook tries too hard. He's young and he literally tries too hard.

I bothered at how there seems to be attempts to cause friction between the two. Reporters or whomever wanting to "find a story". Westbrook is a great talent who has practically burst onto the scene, but from what the experts say he can be just like you said: trying too hard. Brooks must have pulled the right strings, because they won on the road last night. Okay, so th bench was the key, but still.... Westbrook isn't a Durant-level superstar yet.

Best shot of the night:

Probably because neither team plays the kind of intense defense necessary to win championships so a lot of points get put up. Both these teams are offense first and defense is not so much an afterthought but maybe just 'of secondary importance'.

I still think Dallas will win this series but neither of these teams is championship caliber. Neither team can use 'stops' to win tough playoff road games against great offensive players when 'your' offense isn't working but the other team's is clicking. Both teams have a mentality that seeks to win games by outscoring the opposition. This is the difference between offensive minded teams and defensive minded teams.

And in the east, still think the Heat will advance and the very undeserving (up to now, anyway) LeBron, will get his first ring.

Dammit, does Dallas ever miss? :censored:

EDIT--Westbroooooooooooooook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scream: :scream: :censored:

Lose the ball at a critical juncture why don't you? sigh. They get it up to within six and then waste two extremely valuable offensive possessions by firing up an immediate three point attempt WHEN THEY DIDN'T NEED TO!!!! Arrrrrggghhhh....played themselves right out of the game by NOT. BEING. SMART. They had time to play for a good 2 point shot on both of those possessions and then Westbrook loses it out of bounds on the next!!!!! :scream: Too late. You had a shot, Thunder, and you blew it. "Almost" doesn't count with comebacks.

I beg to differ. In the past that was true but not this year. Dallas has shown tremendous offense, but their defense was every bit as important in their sweep the Lakers. The scorching offense in game 4 didn't hurt, though. OKC I am not as familiar with. I think they are too young to be able to last two more rounds, but the Mavericks seem to have the balance and psychological makeup necessary for once.

It doesn't really matter though, because I'd rather watch these games than the Nulls/Heat. There seems to be more actual ball-playing than drama such as we've been getting in the East. You are probably right in that the defense Dallas plays is not the sheer intense force of either the Bulls or Heat. But I find the Mavs-Thunder series more compelling for the reasons cited

Dallas plays defense only slightly better this season than they have in the past. They at least "think" about defense this season. But both they, and the Thunder, allowed opponent field goal shooting percentages of mid 40's to 50% and over, in the first 2 games.

Now, the Mavs did manage to play some D last night in game 3 but "defensive minded" teams don't wait until game 3 of the conference finals to start playing defense.

As for what Dallas did on defense against the Lakers, well that had everything to do with the Lakers and their failure to kick their game up a notch in the playoffs and failure to execute the offense, than Dallas' suddenly competent defense.

Dallas' defense has been improved this season (in comparison to previous Mavs' teams), but they have a ways to go before becoming the kind of defensive team that can win a championship relying mostly on it's defense.

If the Thunder lose this, they don't deserve the win. They don't.

EDIT--they can't win in overtime with Harden fouled out. I cannot believe they let it slip away from them in three minutes. :scream: :scream: Dammit. :censored:

And you let them pick your pockets when you still had a shot in OT. sigh. Of course, Kidd hits the shot. DAMMIT, Oklahoma City, you blew it. You just flat out blew it and there's no other way to spin it. This one is going to hurt like hell during the off season. They won't remember the first two series. They'll remember the last three minutes of regulation of this game. They pissed it away.

Disgraceful loss. Embarrassing and absolutely disgraceful.

I went to bed at halftime, and was amazed to see OKC choked it away in the 4th quarter. They blew a 15 point lead with 5 minutes left. You gotta put away a team when you get that chance.

Oh, they choked BIG TIME. It was really quite shocking to see how quickly that lead disappeared. Harden fouled out.....and it was like they went into shock. Past my consternation, it bordered on bizarre. It's as if all the momentum and confidence was sucked out of the building like a balloon popping. POP! There wasn't enough time for an impending sense of "we're gonna lose." It's as if someone turned off a spiget.

What they have in talent, they lack in experience. There will be better days for my Thunder, but they blew it. Durant apologized for letting the city down. He was in tears at the post game press conference. I hope he doesn't get crucified for that. He's a good kid. That's the problem, with the exception of Collison and Perkins, they're kids. I bitch at them, but I love them still.

Congrats to Dallas on their pretty surprising comeback.

Just to give balance, don't actually give a shit about Dallas.

With the Heat win, going up 3-1, we may end up with a very intriguing battle in the championship match.

I'd have zero interest in that series. Time to start catching up on back episodes of shows I've taped lately I guess.

Understandable... but I still see multiple interesting storylines in it. Nowitski is playing on a tremendous level, and Kidd seems to have redefined his game somewhat. Chris Bosh has emerged and is blending well with D-Wade and LeBron possibly into what was envisioned for them early on.

Oh, I think there are storylines abound.

Mavs
- Dirk on a mission
- Kidd playing like a kid again
- Mavs can't miss a 3
- Chance to avenge 2006 to Miami if that's how it goes

Miami
- The way their Big 3 are jelling at the moment is amazing, took all season, but they look sick
- 2 of 3 having great games to pick up the slumping other guy
- Killing the critics
- A 'ring for the king'
- Is it still Wade's team?

I can go on.

Bulls-OKC would be a new guard coming to power.

Mavs-Heat is the team that never quite could vs. the team so many hate.

I exaggerate when I say I won't watch. Just not the matchup I would have liked.

I root for Orlando, they got cooked early, at this point, just want something entertaining. 7 games with theatrics, that whole thing.

It's still a ways from being settled, but I tend to prefer a Mavs / Heat series as providing potentially the most complete and competitive match-up. Any other combination brings in at least one of two very young teams who would still have time if they miss out this year.

My Thunder can't close a game in this series to save their lives. :censored: Of course, they lose the ball and Nowitzki gets a second chance at the go ahead three.

sigh. Dammit. And now it's a four point lead. It's officially done.
