The Silence in season 5?

Carrying on the theme, you don't think the episodes "Silence in the Library 1/2" could be retconned to fit these beings in some form of flashback? Particularly as these episodes are the first time we meet River Song?

Are you thinking what I'm thinking about the Silence and their nature?

I had strong feeling that wasn't the last we've seen of that sort of non-Gallifreyian TARDIS and it bore a lot of asthetical similarities to the Pandorica, the feeling of vindication is wonderful. But I doubt it's the same counterfeit TARDIS from last time, the Silence's more sinister, somewhat cruder TARDISes might be around in huge numbers if there's already a huge army of the Silence lurking beneath the surface of our planet, with their timeships presumably used as power/control hubs for their endless underground warrens and tunnels.

A Silent drone is a cross between a Roswell Grey and the Slender Man, their mind wiping ability is an unnerving and practical trait.

I'm guessing the Silence are future evil offshoots or direct descendents of the Ood civilization that we saw from "The End of Time", where the 10th Doctor was remarking with some concern on how fast and far the Ood were advancing as a species, with sprawling cities and immense psychic powers already developed within a relatively short space of time. The Silence do have more similarities than differences to the original Ood, with their bulbous skulls, killing through electricity, and psychic powers...

I like them, like the Toclafane, they're a good attempt at a species original to NuWho who are similar in power to the Time Lords and Daleks.

Ok.. So they've been tunnelling under the surface for centuries.. How do the Silurians fit into this scenario?

Maybe the tunnels were not dug but are just the hallways of their Tardis that materialized inside the Earth.

The Silurians dug much deeper.

And weren't the Silurians there for considerably longer, on the order of millenia, given the fact they were in hibernation in "The Hungry Earth" / "Cold Blood"? I don't know how well that fits with their earlier appearance in Who, though.

The Silence suddenly having this global tunnel system can be lazily attributed to whibbly-wobbly-timey-whimey.

But think about the Odd in under only a hundred years the Ood were erecting sprawling and towering citidals on their homeworld and their mental powers had grown to such a large degree they could project their thoughts across seemingly all of time and space. The Doctor was visibly troubled by such sudden and huge developments, they're the most likely candidates for ancestors to the Silence, and they've already been touted as true successors to the Time Lords.
