The Dark Knight Rises Anticipation Station

Yeah, the mayor was a good example. The guy who could have exposed Bruce's identity is another one I completely forgot about. How about the commissioner before Gordon? Some are minor, some had decent roles.

No, Commissioner Loeb was a character from Batman: Year One.

I'm starting to get the impression that, at this stage, people are just looking for things to criticize Nolan on, which surprises me given the amount of success and prestige he's brought (back) to Batman as a character and the Batman film franchise.

I would personally love for Miranda Tate to be an alias for Talia, but will not be critical if such does not turn out to be the case and she is simply the person that the WB's press release identifies her as being.

It has been a while since Batman Begins first came out, but I recall the early rumors had Liam Neeson playing Ra's al Ghul. These were quickly "debunked" when it turned out he was instead playing Ducard. I would not be surprised if something similar happened along the way to the new one.

Yeah, I read that online and it sort of hurt my enjoyment of the movie. :( Everyone else I watched the movie with was shocked, but I was just sorry someone spoiled that for me.

I'm tempted to leave this thread, to be honest. Even rumors, when true, will feel like I was spoiled.

Then again, I can't think of any character surprises in the second one. After all, I knew who Harvey Dent was, so his becoming Two Face was no surprise.

The night before The Empire Strikes Back premiered, someone I knew said he peaked in the novelization. Before I could shut him up, he blindsided me with the knowledge that Darth Vader says that he's Luke's father. I was so pissed. I believe he did that on purpose both to show off and to ruin my surprise in the theater. Teenagers.

This is in a spoiler tag in case you've been hiding under a rock for over 30 years. ;)

Add that with the rising star factor of these two actors, it is a reasonable enough to think they are playing established characters as opposed to original ones.
Reasonable to think they'd be playing major characters, yes, but a major character isn't necessarily an established character, as the above examples show.

Agreed, and I did not mean to suggest otherwise. My only point was I can understand how one's mind would shift to an expectation that an actor in an adaptation would be playing an established character.

hahahahaha

I will the Rock Dwellers the same courtesy

Had a friend who did something similar, We were waiting in line for ESB's first showing . There was a private screening for local "big shots" prior to that. Two of the big shots walked out a few minutes in, not pleased with film and gave their passes to me and my friend. So we got to see the film before our buddies ( and girlfriends) waiting in line. So as we exit after the film my friend says in a loud voice , "So Vader is Luke's father!" People were not pleased.

Tom Hardy bulked/bulking up while at the Warners offices/studio.

Speculation at the link.

I think he was already pretty bulky coming off his MMA movie, Warrior.

^ I know that's supposed to be a steroid joke but why isn't it feasible for someone like him to be dedicated and train for several months? Why do we need to resort to steroid jokes every time we see someone pumped up now? I know it's the climate with live in right now. Why do I even care? I'm not sure.

"Baaaaaaaannnnnnneeeeeee!!!"
