Favourite pizza?

Today I was thinking pizza because they ordered it in at work this evening for something or other. Frankly most of the places I've tasted pizza ordered from disappoint me. For one thing I find just plain cheese or regular pepperoni pizza rather bland and boring. Also, I'm not a fan of vegetarian pizza---to me it's like an oxymoron. Chicken on pizza doesn't do much for me either.

Pizza Hut...blah.
Pizza Pizza...often blah.
Domino's...meh.
Boston Pizza...okay, but pricey.

Homemade pizza can often be good depending how it's made. And, yeah, one person's delicious is often another person's blah.

My all time favourite place to order pizza (since 1969) has been Marconi Pizza in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Next to that I surprisingly don't mind the new place in the town where I moved to a year and a half ago, Luna's Pizza in Brockville, Ontario.

My favourite Pizza: pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms and pineapple...sometimes with green peppers. I usually prefer thin crust. I usually like it with a pepsi, a glass of juice or a cup of coffee. My favourite time to eat pizza is during a hockey game or watching a good movie on television.

Over the years I've tried sausage, beef, tomatoes, onions, olives and also anchovies on pizza and haven't minded them, although they're not my first choices by far.

Anyone else? :)

I refuse to eat a "kind" of pizza. I have mine specially made.

Cheese, mushrooms, sausage, and pineapple.

Best. Pizza. EVER.

But that's just me.

The CHEESE pizza from Home Run Inn.

I used to be able to buy it at Costco, but they don't have it anymore. All they have is the crappy version with toppings. :sigh:

Out of the remaining versions I've had, my favorite is the square pie at Spumoni Gardens in Brooklyn, NY.

When I buy pizza I usually have a Pizza Hut Deep Pan BBQ Prawn and Bacon. It has prawns, pineapple, onion, bacon rashers, mozzarella, BBQ sauce on it. I buy Pizza Hut oizzas because there is a Pizza Hut in walking distance from us.

I spent all of last week in Chicago but I never once had a Chicago style pizza (I pretty much ate ballpark food all week). I suppose I should have. Maybe next time.

We hardly ever order pizza out anymore. We just buy the frozen variety, which have gotten a lot better in the last 10 years or so. Favourite kind is Canadian, with mushrooms, pepperoni and bacon. Also really like Hawaiian.

There's a best & worst pizza article on Yahoo.

It claims Domino's is the "most improved". I actually think it sucks compared to the more generic taste it used to have.

Most of my personal favorites have been from smaller chains and singles. We have some Rocky Roccoco's about 25 miles away. Used to be more of them around.

I like Digiorno's quite a bit. I add oregano, garlic powder, mushrooms & extra cheese to their 3 meat rising crust.

Well...I'm actually not able to eat a lot of pizzas because of my acid reflux. But I CAN eat--and greatly enjoy--the thin-crust pizza at Newk's.

Too bad we're not talking calzones, though, or I would vote Mellow Mushroom.

Chicago-style deep dish pizza. Lots of meat. No veggies.

However, I don't have anywhere around here that serves that kind of pizza, so of the major chains around this area, I always order Papa Johns.

I like pizza with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and onions. Sometimes with bits of ground beef as well. The more dead animals on it, the better. :techman:

well I don't have a favorite pizza joint, but I like pizza to have a firm but not chewy crust, slightly crispy, lightly browned cheese, fresh onions and peppers, spicy pepperoni and sausage, and a bold sauce
preferably corn meal instead of flour to keep it from sticking to the stone . . . nothing's more gross than a mouthful of flour

Pepperoni. Mushrooms. Extra cheese.

Best. Pizza. Ever!

Where I get it from really isn't important. Though, the best pizza I've ever had is from a small local sports bar in Lima, Ohio called Beer Barrel. It's probably because they cook it in real brick ovens, not generic stainless steel microwaves.

The only kind of pizza I could never enjoy is deep dish, Chicago style. Just not my cup of tea.

I often like it hand-tossed, but East of Chicago has a pretty good thin crust - since it's nice and crunchy, not soft and saggy like all other thin crusts I've ever tried.

Chicken, red bell pepper, green onion, jalapeño, cilantro, bacon, black olive, cashew and garlic, on a medium-thickness sourdough crust with BBQ sauce in addition to (or in place of) the red sauce. Sometimes I'll throw some Italian sausage on top, just because.

Oh my God...heartburn on a crust! :cardie: My poor stomach would explode like in SpaceBalls!

(Yes, I know that originally came from Alien. But the SpaceBalls comparison is more appropriate for me. ;) )

I also love Grimaldi's Pizzeria (again, in Brooklyn) but I never have time to go there anymore. Damn lines are literally around the block most of the time! They really are that good, I guess. :sigh:
The pizza is good but the servers are assholes so I never go there. Anyway my favorite pizza is the simple brooklyn style plain slice

I love Spumoni Gardens so much that I am willing to tolerate the 45-minute trip on the N train to get there. :sigh:
