Design the Next Enterprise

Hey Sean, Jonathan Frakes recently pitched a series to CBS. It would have been about the Titan: http://io9.com/#!5790302/william-sh...akes-both-pitched-star-trek-tv-shows-recently

Maybe not the best place for this^ but I know you're reading this thread :p

I saw that on a few site yesterday, a few site had that along in an article where my Trek Question to him was choosen out of a group that he would answer.

What was the question?

What was the question?

Sean Tourangeau Carmen Asmussen (via Facebook): What is your favorite memory from your years involved with Star Trek? What was the saddest memory as well? I am the Designer of the U.S.S. Titan and was an honored to have my design chosen as the winning design.
Jonathan Frakes: Every morning, no matter what the hour, I woke up looking forward to going where no one had gone before. The company, on both sides of the camera was filled with clever, talented and funny men and women. Naturally, we mourned Gene Roddenberry’s death after season 3…by the way one of the great funerals of all time. When I was in London, I got a call about the tragic death of Jerry Fleck our 1st Assistant director on the show and both of my Star Trek movies. We also were very sad when Denise Crosby (Lt. Tasha Yar) left the show…both the characters and the actors…congrats on the TITAN Design….RIKER’s SHIP!!!!!

For anyone who is interested, I just posted an update on my blog showing some refinements to the main deflector area of my Ent-F design.

^^ Well goody for them, but not in my book. It's always been argued that only what is onscreen counts. And unless it appears onscreen well then too bad so sad.

Besides which I still Vektor's design is the best. Now that I'd like to see onscreen.

It'll be onscreen. A computer screen. :p

I just wanted y'all to know, I have been following this thread from the start. I have been so impressed by the designs, and am anxious to find out who won, also!

I don't even play STO, but the unveiling of a new Enterprise (canonicity issues aside) is exciting!

Just wanted to say "terrific job, folks!" to those of you here who submitted design!

It will be onscreen ... a computer screen.

With Vektor's talent it's only a matter of time until he'll feel the urge to turn it into a realistic model.

There has been lots of stuff on computer screens and that still didn't count.

Seems to me that this isn't the right place to discuss whether or not CBS controls "canon"...or the metaphysical nature of "canon." I'd suggest splitting the thread and resuming the discussion there, if you all really want to continue debating the point. Leave this thread to the Enterprise contest.

Just my $0.02, here.

^Well, since it has been noted in the contest rules that the ship will be canon, I don't see anything wrong with discussing it here.

Yeah, I think I have something more important to do, like sorting my toenail clippings collection.

And seeing as its been noted in the contest rules that it will be canon, what's the point in pointing out something that has been explicitly stated months prior?

That is a beautiful Enterprise-F design, Vektor. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was selected as the next flagship of the federation.

Now personally, I'd love to hear more stories (as suggested by Mojomoe earlier in this thread) of people's first or best memory of an Enterprise reveal. Sure as hell beats debating the f-ing c-word.
