Which division of Buffy is your favorite?

The High School Years (Seasons 1-3)
The College Years (Seasons 4-5)
The Post-Resurrection Years (Seasons 6-7)

Very quick anwser? High School Years. I'm guessing that's pretty much what the majority will say


I always think of it as the College Years been 4.01 - 5.15 'I Was Made To Love You.' And the "Adult Years" of 5.16 'The Body - the end
As IWMTY was kinda the last real "college" episode, and that was really the turning point for the charatcers, esp Buffy, into adult life

Don't really have a favorite "division" though I'd say season four was probably the least interesting - basically, though, I loved the whole thing.

Seasons 2-5 so I guess that's the High School and College years for me.

High School, but season 5 is my second favorite season after two. Not really a fan of the post-Resurrection years, though. The show is very depressing and a lot of the elements I liked from the WB series were lost. Still not bad, but there are only a handful of episodes I seek out from those last two years (Once More With Feeling and Conversations with Dead People).

I loved everything, but I would definitely say "adult years" if you didn't separate them into "college" and "post-resurrection".

Since you did, it gets a little more difficult to choose. Season 6 is my favorite, followed by season 5, so I guess I'd have to say post-resurrection,but it's really, really close.

Of course I also love the high school years (even season 1 is good, I appreciated it more on the rewatch), I just love what came after more.

High school years. The Buffy-Faith mini-era being my favourite of that. Ironically enough, I actually found myself enjoying the end of season 4 on re-watch a few years back. My least favourite stuff is the time following Buffy's resurrection. I do enjoy the end of season 7 once Faith shows up. Maybe I just have a hugh fangirl crush on her, who knows?

I can't help noticing how "everybody" says the High School years were "real" Buffy, but the episodes that everyone holds up as the greatest episodes of the entire series - "Hush," "The Body," "Once More With Feeling" etc - were all after the High School years. It took breaking out of the high school mold for the show to reach the heights it was capable of.

"Everybody" prefers high school years on this forum, but on Buffy forums like buffyforums.net or slayalive.com, season 5 usually wins the polls for favorite season, and there are lots of people who love all of the show but prefer the adult years.

A poll about the favorite season on Slayalive.com had these results (I rounded the percentages):

2. season 6 - 23 votes (28%)
3. season 3 - 14 votes (17%)
4. season 2 - 10 votes (12%)
5. season 4 - 4 votes (5%)
/ season 7 - 4 votes (5%)
7. season 1 - 0 votes

On Buffyforums.net there was a thread with people ranking their favorite seasons, in the end the results (with giving the top ranked season 7 points, the second one 6 and so on) were:

1. season 5 - 188 points
2. season 2 - 176 points
3. season 3 - 174 points
4. season 6 - 168 points
5. season 4 - 126 points
6. season 7 - 104 points
7. season 1 - 72 points


I'd say the difference is probably because this Buffy-specific forums have more hardcore Buffy fans that remained invested in the show until the end.
