Funny how the Nuggets are 8-2 in their first 10 games since the Carmelo trade and the Knicks are just 5-5; the guy just won't play defense. From all Denver fans to New York: Your loss is our gain. Enjoy your overpaid whiner.

If I were a Nuggets fan I wouldn't be getting too excited. Two seasons ago with Carmelo, the Nuggs appeared to be in position to eventually overtake the Lakers and possibly get to the Finals. They slipped a bit last season and now they are no longer even among the Western Conf elite. This team is slowly headed backward.

But I agree with you otherwise, so are the Knicks WITH Melo. Neither he nor Amare play defense and Amare also does not rebound like an elite power forward. Further, D'antoni is not the coach you want if you want championships. His teams are always weak defensively and are one dimensional on offense.

Not to mention losing to the Clips last night. The Thunder are definitely still a dark horse favorite in the west, but they're certainly not looking the part right now.

The Nuggets are 15-4 since the Melo trade, and they beat the Lakers last night in LA, while the Knicks are 10-12 since Melo took his talents to the Big Apple.

gblews, I agree with what you said up above, the Nugs are going to fall at some point and they're playing way above their abilities right now, but this team has been pathetic for so long just let me bask in these last few months, ok?

Just keep this in mind; the Lakers are attempting to do the impossible. What happens to them in these playoffs cannot be compared to what happens to any of the other teams because none of the others are "where" the Lakers are, or even trying to accomplish what the Lakers are trying.

The other teams are all on a quite easy to discern path - the Lakers are out there by themselves blazing a whole new trail.

It always seems like they have to get there the hard way. They lay at least one egg every series, like they need to be woken up or something.

Goodbye Denver. Good effort and it was nice knowing you, but OKC overcame adversity on the road and flat out beat you on your home floor. I was surprised to see Durant lose his cool on that play. He deserved the T. Usually Kevin is so low key you wonder if he has a pulse. He's reading his little bible on the bench at practice all the time, just got the "nice guy" award from the press for being cooperative. He's not usually Mr. T

That POS sports writer from the Denver Post is at it again. What's his name? Isaza? He ripped Durant for being "soft" and calls OKC a fraud as a contender. Says they were exposed and all that. Exposed by whom? Certainly not Denver.

Wither San Antonio - a team and franchise I have admired for a long time. Timmy looks done with respect to playing consistently at an all-star level. Ginobili is hurt more often than not. Tony Parke still looks capable but he is all alone.

The thing that really stands out though is that the Spurs no longer play that great D they used to play. Just as the Lakers have evolved from being an offensive team to being a defensive team, the Spurs have gone in the opposite direction. This is the first time I've seen a No. 1 seed get beaten by a No. 8 and it didn't have to do with No. 1 overlooking 8.

The Grizz just looked like a much better team. Every time I looked at those two bruisers down low, Gasol and Randolph, against Tim and McDyess, I just shook my head. So how DID the Spurs win 61 games? My guess is that they had uncommonly good health and a s***load of 3's fell for them between October and mid-April - 3's that did not fall in late April.

Great franchise, great coach. They'll be back, but who knows when, because the Tim Duncan era has finally ended.

Okay, Memphis is up by 17 in the fourth after OKC cut it to three. Truly pitiful and embarrassing. They should be extremely embarrassed by this performance. We'll find out what they're made of on Tuesday. It doesn't matter that there's 11 minutes left. The way they're playing, they're done today. They obviously weren't prepared mentally and emotionally. Too busy patting themselves on the back, I guess. It's a good lesson.

No, but Memphis is not Denver. The Grizz have a big bruising front line that is capable of scoring inside consistently on offense and defending the rim at the other end and they obviously don't respect their opponents' home court. OKC is in need of a different mindset and approach in this series. Perhaps game 1 will be the wake up call.

But if OKC is not capable of matching Memphis' strength up front, this series could be very disappointing for the Thunder.

But, for the sake of full disclosure, going into this series I am hoping to see the Thunder knocked out (even though it is still a somewhat longshot) because I consider OKC to be a real threat to the Lakers.

Yes, they had a wake up call and then some. Memphis can finish a game and they're much stronger up front. OKC needs to bear down and tough it out. I think they're better than Memphis in a series, but Memphis isn't going to pussy out and whine about fouls like Denver. OKC obivously still had a bit of a success hangover. Their own fault, of course.
