Maybe I just misread? Or more likely we disagree on what "preserving his integrity means."

I'm not sure that I see how it was a huge mistake or in any way reflective on Nolan's film. I mean, if it didn't actually interfere with his creative process or the story he's telling, what's it matter?

^ Yeah, it's not like TDK had scenes like in Batman and Robin where the cast took time out of going to defeat the bad guy and changed costume, just so they could be seen in an extra costume for the action figures ...

I'm sure if Bale's Batsuit couldn't handle the arctic conditions by Mr. Freeze, he'd go back too. Although, he would have probably planned ahead.

Like the up graded armor to handle dog bites or the up graded sonar suit.

^ But all of that fitted into the narrative. The character didn't have to go and do anything dumb - like delaying taking on the baddie when time was of the essence - just so we could see his slinky new duds.

The how or why doesn't matter, only the fact that there was alterations in the uniform.

^ The how or why does matter. If it doesn't affect the story to the detriment, then it's acceptable. If it does affect it detrimentally, then it's not. Quite simple.

Agreed. A Batman that didn't upgrade his equipment to better fit the situation would be harder to believe.

^ Because in B&R, it was so obvious that the only reason for Batman, Robin and Batgirl to take time out from going to fight Freeze and change outfits was so that the studio could sell more action figures. 'Batman - snow suit'. 'Robin - snow suit.' 'Batgirl - snow suit.'

This isn't at all comparable to Bale's Batman and Lucius Fox discussing quite logical upgrades to his outfit; especially in a series which has spend some time trying to show how Batman and his technology would work in the real world.

Even as a kid I remember watching Batman & Robin and scratching my head as to why Batman, Robin and Batgirl were changing suits. Mr. Freeze is literally freezing the entire city but Batman and his partners have enough time to change their outfits.

With Nolan's Batman movies, especially The Dark Knight, I always appreciated that Nolan took the time to explain why Batman changed his outfit besides just showing up randomly with a new costume without any explanation. Heck, he even made practical use out of the Bat-motorcycle. Everything needs to have a reason and purpose in Nolan's movies and I love them because of that.

Yeah I don't personally see Duncan Jones accepting any offer to do "The Wolverine". He's currently been working on his next project and is also working on the "Mute" graphic novel. My guess is that David Slade is gonna get his wish and be named the director. Fox will name someone else to replace him on the "Daredevil" reboot. Slade doesn't excite me at all to be frank.

I hope Duncan Jones doesn't get tied down to a superhero movie. I'd rather he have the chance to develop more of his original material, like "Mute." On the other hand, directing a studio picture like this could make financing such projects easier, if the film is a hit.

^ I believe that it would take something he's interested in personally for him to accept directing a superhero role. I get the feeling he wants to work on his own stuff as much as possible.

I still want to see the Blade Runner-esque film which he had talked about wanting to make in the Moon features. The one that might have featured a Rockwell cameo as Sam 6, placing it in the same continuity as Moon. Source Code doesn't seem to be what Jones was alluding to there.

^ Um that was "Mute". If you'd been following our discussions about Jones in the "Source Code" thread you'd know that he wasn't able to secure enough funding to produce "Mute" but still hopes to and will be adapting the screenplay to a graphic novel that he's working on now.
