Hey ... I actually saw TPM over a dozen times in the theaters. AOTC & ROTS over a half-dozen times, each, including midnight premieres in digital theaters in Times Square. And I enjoyed each viewing. So there.

Yet some people didn't want to hear about midichlorians at all. Now the problem is there wasn't more information? You didn't have anything specific in mind by any chance, like "midichlorians are the Force" perhaps?

My further opinion is that Obi-Wan and Yoda did a much better job explaining what the Force was in the OT comparatively.

The thing is... most people nowadays watch the films in order. Meaning: Episode I first, Episode VI last. And then it's no issue at all.

All problems people have (including myself) are based on "it's not as good as the OT". The "new generation" who watches the PT first and then the OT doesn't see these problems.

I don't know a lot of people who bother with 1-3 any more. They're so off in tone and style that they don't even feel like they're from the same series as the OT.

Set, I agree this is what Lucas intended. I've been playing devil's advocate mainly to explore the issue further.

The problem isn't with the idea of a prophecy. The problem is that the prophecy was never clearly described in any of the films. It was always left very vague and leaves the viewer wondering what it exactly was. As I referenced earlier, even when we start to get some semblance of an idea in Episode III, Yoda comes along and says they might be wrong about the vaguely defined prophecy and throws all that in doubt.

Now, again, Lucas may have intended for the prophecy to be Anakin defeating the Sith, but what was intended never made it on film and came off as more of an afterthought.

Think about it. Do you bitch about it when a series of movies gets better with each installment? I don't. I bitch when movies get worse. Die Hard 4, Indy 4, Nemesis, nuTrek, etc... But I don't bitch about the flaws in A New Hope just because I like The Empire Strikes Back better.
