Took a walk today with my camera and here are a few of the pictures I took.

My nephew is a student at Virginia Commonwealth University- their basketball team just made the Final Four. The celebration in Richmond is a bit nuts. This is one of the photos he took from his dorm window:

It's a noisy sea of black and gold. Go Rams!

Another picture in which I actually appear in! My wife took this one when we were visiting a sugar shack on my daughter's birthday.

Today I have something very special for you all. No one outside of my family has seen this item in many years.

This is an apple that I put in this glass jar 26 years ago. It has sat in a closet for all this time, coming out only to be admired every 5 or so years. The jar has never been opened. About 7 years ago the skin was still lightish colored and it was taller, more firm looking. Originally it sat close to the sides of the jar. There is a tiny big of moisture on the bottom of the jar but that's as much as there has ever been.

It's pretty well preserved for two and half decades. Vacuum sealed?

Why exactly has this become such a treasured item, and what prompted the preservation?

Not vacuum sealed just popped into the jar and the lid screwed on.

The preservation was a whim and what makes it special is simply the amount of time I've had it. And it being solid for so long, I assume if it had degenerated into moldy mush I would have tossed it. It has moved house 5 times with me.

Thats pretty cool. I have a sprite bottle out on my back porch, that was opened once, and left there through 6 years of winter, drought, rain,. I haven't opened it, but I am curious to see when the bottle's body goes bad.

Intriguing ~ I've just to ask why?

(ETA ~ I've just seen why, thanks)

And the reason for this pic was just pure boredom caused by going through my paperwork to find Car's last years MOT.

I get easily bored by the mundane... and kicks herself for not having a filing system ~ apart from just 'putting it in the drawer of hell'

I made these last night:

They will be earrings. Just have to do a little clean-up work on them and add ear wires, then I'll wear them! :D
