Then you're speaking from ignorance. There's dozens of Star Trek references in the series, from the red shirt getting killed by "the big scary monster" to Cartman's mom's SUV being used as a shuttlecraft by the kids while playing Star Trek.

You know, you're really speaking from ignorance. You have no idea about my political sensibilities, and you've no idea about the series you're trashing. You're also reflecting BADLY on your associates who are trying to get their own fan film series (using the Exeter sets) off the ground.

You've come into this thread and demanded we return to the original subject, and now you're denigrating folks with different tastes than your own. Personally, I think that's uncalled for and unfair.

Perhaps I should have been more clear in my viewpoint. South Park, from my observations and those that I have spoken with, is a clear example of how sick the world is, and most of all, a clear indication of how humanity is literally going down the tubes.

A prime example of this is the character of Cartman. An individual who has the gall and the nerve to make constant racial slurs and other vile comments about another character's religion. I believe that the young man is named Kyle. And if I am not mistaken, Kyle is of the Jewish faith.

Cartman has gone as far as even dressing as Adolf Hitler, which goes to show you how sick, twisted, vile, ignorant, and demented his mentality is. The very idea of dressing up as someone who had six million lives exterminated is just twisted and downright disturbing. And unfortunately, that kind of mentality is also reflected in today's youth.

A youth, for which, has gotten out of control in today's world, because the elders have not re-enforced old fashioned discipline(i.e. paddling a youth on the rear end for showing disrespect).

It is not my intention to insult. I am voicing a point of view on a semi-controversial subject. If it comes off as such, then so be it. I cannot change a person's thought processes anymore than I could put a square peg through a round hole. I am not in that type of business.

That is my final word on the subject of South Park.

The last time I looked, it was a free country. Not former Soviet Russia.

Funny, looking over the last couple pages of this thread, you seem to be at the center of it going off-topic, so I'm going to suggest you take your own advice before admonishing me or anyone else here.

And by suggest, I mean the same way a state trooper "suggests" you follow the speed limit.

For the record, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators and producers of South Park, tend to skew to the political right (in fact, there was a book that came out a few years ago entitled "South Park Conservatism") and a careful viewing of the show will reveal that some of the harshest barbs are actually reserved for liberals and their sacred cows (not that the right is safe, they open fire on stupidity and pomposity wherever it's found). Barbra Steisand in particular is unabashedly reviled. And in their movie "Team America: World Police", they make a point of making some of the most outspoken liberal actors look like complete idiots at every opportunity.

    So, on that note...

I can see why the adults walked out of the cinema in that skit. I certainly would have. And demand a refund!

Quite so. Al Gore in particular is the subject of some of their harshest wit. The "Man Bear Pig" episode absolutely skewers Gore. "I'm cereal!" But the amazing thing is how they can nail someone weeks, months or even years before the rest of the media catches on, ref. Mel Gibson (who they portrayed as a nutcase) and even Avatar (which they turned into a Smurf movie).

They're very quick. They wrote the Avatar/Smurf thing before the movie was released.

They've got very little use for contemporary American right-wing politics, including American militarism and "social values" conservatism which they mock mercilessly. They tend toward libertarianism and particularly like to make fun of celebrity and of any and all religious institutions. Their basic credo is that "it has to be okay to make fun of everything or it's not okay to make fun of anything."
