So I wasn't the only one who noticed that. Now, I'm noticing something else, based on my poll -- could it be nerdy women don't enjoy sports?

Similarly, I wonder what the percentage of nerdy men that actually attended the Superbowl is.

I'm in a minority on the issue here, but I expected that. Though I very much suspect if we polled all Americans 18 & older, I'm in the vast majority.

I've noticed a lot more women who wear sports jerseys and are interested in sports than when I was younger. Its an odd and welcome phenomenon to me.

Well I think that has to do with the the slowly loosening grip of traditional gender roles. A lot of women have liked sports, both as a spectator or participant, but now it's more "okay" for women to like sports than it was 50, 40, or even 20 years ago (1991 was 20 years ago? Shit, I'm damn near ready for my walker).

It's going the other way, too. It's more acceptable now for (straight) men to be into little crafty things and shopping and fashion and gardening and whatnot.

I vote Yea! all the way around. Be who you are and dig what you dig instead of what tradition and bigotry says you're supposed to be.

There aren't enough options in the poll. I'm male and didn't watch it but I am a sports fan, just not of football.

I watched it but didn't really enjoy it this year as in other years. I actually found Glee much more enjoyable, and as a guy, to some people in this country, that's a problem. For me, I don't care, I still enjoy it.

Where's the option for "I don't really care about American Football but am a fan of, and will watch, other sports, yet I watched some of it anyway but only really paid attention to the Half Time Show"?

I love college football, but have absolutely no interest in pro football.

^This describes me, basically.

I turned on the game and watched most of the first half, then turned it off. It's really not fun if you're alone and don't care about the outcome - I've watched in the past when I didn't care who won, but I was surrounded by family and friends then. It makes a difference.

ETA - female, avidly follow the NHL, MLB and NCAA football. I'm very bummed this week that the Flyers don't play until Thursday.

Female, love football, hate the Steelers, watched the eff out of the Superbowl, stumbled into work still a bit drunk at 11:00 on Monday.


Oh, and where's the option for "I'm male and my wife/girlfriend made me watch"? Because that would be the reality in my house if that were to ever come up.
