I think they're doing a great job with the comics (written by Rockne S. O'Bannon and our own Keith RA DeCandido!)

Big and epic, and only getting crazier, the first panel of the book is actually the last scene of Peacekeeper Wars.

Indeed. I have read the first 3 hardcovers of the comics, and so far they're a lot of fun and fit the tone of the series perfectly. I'm just waiting for more of the collections to be released.

Glad to hear the comics are good. Now I just need the miniseries and then the comics and hopefully they will get the web series / webisodes up and going.

Of course before any of that I have to make it through season 4, gods this is bad! I can't stand the new characters they added, I want Maya and Pilot back. It took me several tries to get through that two parter that was pointless, and now I'm on the lava planet episode.... we need a sleepy smilie face. :)

I agree that the biggest problem with Season 4's start is the absence of Aeryn and Moya. They had to find a way to introduce the new characters, so I think it makes sense to not have them distracted by the John/Aeryn story right away, but it can be a bit rough.

I'm exactly where you are right now, bigdaddy, and while I do enjoy those episodes now, I definitely remember how annoying it was sitting through them the first time around.

At least you can just blow through them on your DVDs. I had to watch them one week at a time. It was over a month before Moya was even back on the screen!

Blow through them? I fell asleep twice in the first half of the two part episode! And once in the second part.

I honestly don't miss Aeryn too much, just Maya and Pilot. The show used to be so great at introducing new characters, and have a great flow of the characters coming and going, like Stark and hopefully Jool (Is that how it's spelled?) and such, but these new characters are just annoying. Plus the new bad guy is a sexy female that can get people to follow her throw sweat... ugh....

You'll grow to like (or at least tolerate) the new characters, I think. Believe me, all of us thought Season 4 had a really bad start when we saw it the first time, especially after how fantastic the last half of Season 3 turned out to be.

    It gets much, much better.

Yeah.....that definitely contributed to how much I was annoyed by those episodes. I will say this about them though.......they had one of the most memorable scenes involving Scropy/Grayza and boots that I'll never forget from that series.

    Plus, it had me

    genuinely wondering about Braca's loyalties.

Yes, cleavage-girl is definitely a step down after how brilliant Scorpy was, or for that matter even Crais.

I love the fact we have a new bad guy and that evolves, but she has no structure to her! Crais was a bad guy because his brother was killed, Scorpy wanted the wormhole, but it's not really clear what she wants from John besides sex.

TV Sex is boring unless the guys are hot.

Even Grayza doesn't know what she wants from Crichton at this point. She just wants to know why Scorpius was so obsessed with him.

Also, this is the first I've ever heard anyone describe Ben Browder as not being hot.

He's too old for me, not bad looking just does nothing.

Plus I said guys, not a guy and a big boobed woman.

Same here. I rewatched it yet again the other night. It's still as wonderful as the first time around. Plus...
It's the one episode in the entire series that features every single cast member, past and present, plus Jool, Sikozou, Noranti, and Gilina. The only major supporting characters it lacks are Grayza, Braca, and "Jack Crichton," but they didn't have any connection to Stark.

It also gets bonus points from me because it was written by Ben Browder.

For sure. The show returns to form with "Promises."

I wouldn't go that far. It does 'start' to get back to form, and 'Promises' is a great ep, but I think most of the other episodes between that and 'Unrealized Reality' are somewhat weak, with 'Prefect Murder' being the low point of the season, IMO...

I just rewatched 'John Quixote', given some of the support for the episode I've seen in the thread, and I have to say my opinion of it does need to be revised, especially as it's the last really wacky episode of the series... I think my problem is that every previous viewing was in the context of a marathon where it sits shortly after the excellent 'Promises', where I'm frustrated that things haven't gotten quite back on track yet... Taken by itself, I have to say it's quite funny... I really like the Scorpy makeup in that one... it's totally fake, but it works... lol

Yeah, I tend to forget that "A Prefect Murder" exists. I have tried to block it from my memory.

Other than that one, though, I enjoy them all. Yes, even "Coup by Clam."

Huh. I quite like "A Prefect Murder" while I can't stand "Coup by Clam" (although I did enjoy it more the last time I saw it a few years ago than I did initially).

I don't mind the story of "A Prefect Murder," but I couldn't stand the way they told it. They had about 10 minutes of plot that they just kept telling and re-telling, and by about the halfway point I just wanted it to be over.

Ah, but that's one of the reasons why I like it so much. Nontraditional narration.

I was wrong about what I said earlier about "John Quixote:"
I just watched "Unrealized Reality" and Zhaan, Stark, Jool, and Crais all appear in the episode albeit only in interview form and don't interact with anyone.
