It was mostly a truthful joke, but ok we are going the no girls club house route.

I'm not talking about a universal language. I'm just talking about sorting out all the differences specifically in the English language.

Besides, if we're really talking about a worldwide universal language, everybody knows it'll be Chinese.

My wife just sent me this picture of my daughter practising her walking:

Yeah that cute.
I was told that I was put into a walker from day one, all I would do is follow people. The old phrase- sometimes you need to run before you walk, my life story.

WTF's a sweatervest? do you mean a tank-top?

Am Eng - Brit Eng (approximately; there is some regional variation)
Sweatervest - "Tank-Top"/Sleeveless Jumper
Vest - Waistcoat (not to be confused with a gilet, though the difference can sometimes be more marginal)
Undershirt (esp. coll. "wifebeater") - Singlet/Vest

This is the reason they are one of my favourite items as well. Sometimes you want a bit more warmth, but you can't wear a sweater under many jackets (depending on cut).
And I'm the gay one ...

;)
I'm Italian and Holdfast is British. We get a pass for talking about clothes. :D

 :techman:

I have said it before, and I'll say it again. We need representatives from all the English-speaking nations to get together and have a huge language summit to figure this shit out. We have too many spellings and too many words that mean different things depending on where you are. We need one universal English Language.

we have one. it's called ENGLISH!

it's not OUR fault all you damned colonials can't talk properly!

*brain asplodes*

In the US, this is a vest. What do you guys call it?

that is a waistcoat.

While I'm not universally fond of US nomenclature (for instance, our month/day/year order for calendar listings is fucking stupid), our names here make so much more sense. That is a vest. RoJo's garment is the same type of cut and fit, but made out the same material as a sweater. Hence... it's a sweater vest. Reasonable.

It makes sense. Your way does not. Now stop making my brain hurt.
