SGU CANCELLED!

Since there's unlikely to be any closure to events on the show I'm not sure I'll even bother watching the last 10 episodes.

They might have to scramble to tie up some lose ends and re-shoot some scenes.

I'm 100% sure the last episode ends on a cliffhanger for the now defunk season 3 to tie up.

It's not a fake. SyFy mentioned it on Twitter. Davie Blue said crap. Its real.

The cast and crew were informed via twitter.... not personally by syfy...nice way to treat them eh?

Well. That's the end of Stargate.

FUCK.

For me, its also the end of watching TV as there is nothing of interest on now. In the future I'll just stick to hulu and buying dvds off amazon.

Hah, yup. I mean seriously, there's Fringe, V...Doctor Who I guess, but this is it for good ol' fashioned Trek like spaceship drama, which happens to be something I really like.

Blood and Chrome, I dont think i'm not even gonna bother with. The sets are gonna look terrible, and it will fail to get any kind of meaningful viewership, just like SGU and Caprica.

Yeah, it really is the end of spaceship sci-fi for the time being. About a year and a half ago my tv broke, shortly after the bsg series finale. I have never gotten another one because there was really nothing of interest on anymore. I discovered and watched Caprica, SG-1, some SGA, and Universe on Hulu and see no need for tv anymore. I can just watch shows on Hulu and buy the dvds if I like them and watch them on my laptop. Screw television.

Who, pray tell, would pay for last minute re-shoots that would then have to go through post-production, all in time for the show to come back in (likely) April?

No one.

I think they aready finished shooting all the remaining season 2 epsodes, so unless they can shoot another i dont see how it can be a good wrap up.

GOD-FUCKING-DAMNIT!

Fuck SyFy. Just go ahead and shut this piece of shit 'network' down.

Look at that, we've finally found something to agree on.

SyFy has been "TLC'ed." What was once a promising niche channel with unique programming has sold out and become a bottom-feeding abomination.

Well if we are screwed and the season ends with half of Destiny destroyed than a movie is the only way to go.

MGM just got off life support and got a little bit of help. So a movie isn't off the table.

Re: Acheivement Unlocked: Dead Franchise Status obtained (?)

I'm surprised that the fans think this is the end.
The Bankruptcy report made a concerted effort to put aside money for another series and two DVD movies.

They obviously know that there is a brand name here that may be fledgling but real nonetheless.

About time.

Fuck off, man. Atlantis was pure shit. Nobody gives a fuck what your idea of Stargate is 'suppose' to be.

Keep thinking that this will get you a third Stargate series featuring a wise-cracking Colonel, brilliant scientist and an alien that can't speak with contractions all you like. It isn't.

Stargate is cooked.

An SGU DVD movie would be a mistake.
If it's anything like the series ....

I don't know how you could justify making those movies off this awful series ratings... How? That's a waste of money just thinking about it!

Re: Acheivement Unlocked: Dead Franchise Status obtained (?)

Joe Mallozzi stated on his blog that SGU ending would make it hard to get any DVD films made.

Of course, he's a little biased, but it might be true.

The brand name may be there, but it appears that the fans aren't, not in sufficient numbers to keep a Networked-Stargate TV show alive with the current measurement system used for ratings.

Filming for the 2nd season finale started on the week of November 8th, and it ends in a cliff-hanger:

I think this and Caprica should serve as a notice to all future writers of sci-fi space dramas that ending your seasons in cliffhangers is NOT a good idea. From now on in these shows each season should be self contained and wrap up its inter-season arcs by the season finale.
