I've been growing my hair out for a bit. When I got it cut in August, it was the first haircut I'd gotten since May 2009. It's long enough now that if it were straighter, it would be touching my collarbone in the front. Unfortunately I have very wavy and unruly hair - in the slightest humidity it gets very curly, and doesn't look like it's all that long.
About 20 years ago, I had it down to about an inch below my collarbone - and it was permed, so if it had been straight it probably would have been about halfway down my back. I think that took about three years to grow - and then I cut it all off for a production of
Edward II. (I figured men in the 1920s, which was when we set the show, didn't have shoulder-length perms. Shocked the hell out of my castmates when I showed up on opening night with all my hair cut off.)
It's a scan of an 18-year-old newspaper article, but you can sort of make out the length of my hair in this (I'm on the left - that should be obvious, but just in case...):
That photo was taken at dress rehearsal, the night before opening night, so I literally cut it all off a few hours before we opened.
Unfortunately, this is the only photo I've been able to find from that period. I'm sure I'll post them if I ever find others.
