SURVIVOR NICARAGUA Running thread, commentary, etc. (Spoilers)

We didn't even get to see how the other half of the tribe reacted when they got back from the volcano picnic . . . ..

Yeah.

You know, that really blew my mind. Nothing? Not a frame of reaction? No interview on "what the hell happened?"? No NOTHING?

I was wondering about that too...and then it didn't get mentioned at Tribal Council either. Kind of underwhelming. Maybe it'll play out in future episodes now that they have no food and will be starving again.

Yeah it really annoyed me that they didn't show anything else on that. I actually would have found it far more interesting to spend a few minutes on that than the second-rate scheming going on. It's something different and that greatly affects their camp life. I miss when they used to focus more on the survival aspect of the show. I love me some scheming, especially when it involved evil Russell, but the outwit part of the show has been rather boring this season. The best we've gotten are Marty and Brenda, and they were more arrogant bullies than actual schemers.

Anyway, with how dire the one guy at camp made the fire situation seem, you really think they would have spent more time on it.

Surely after the reward challenge thing, she would have been gone soon anyway. This is not nice to say, but bitch isn't a strong enough word to describe Nionka. She's a cunt. Period. And they are better off without her. Should have booted her a LONG time ago.

She really should've been gone a long-assed time ago. Ugh.

Loved the way Jeff treated the two little quitters at TC but, really, they shouldn't have gone into the jury but I guess, really, there was no other choice.

As I recall, we've had people quit before, and I don't recall Jeff giving them the 3rd degree in the same manner as he did tonight.

I think all the other quitters were pre-jury selection, and two quitters at once can really mess with the job of producing the show (even though they've somewhat planned for the eventuality by starting with more players).

Plus, Naonka was pretty much half the drama on tribal council for Probst. He had figured her for a lock in the final two/three as the contestant brought to the end that nobody would vote for...which just makes Naonka's decision even more stupid as she was pretty much a lock for a $100,000.

Seriously, though, Naonka has some major issues. Jeff was right to call her a six-year-old in his blog. Though, I would say she's a six-year-old with a severe lack of empathy.

As Brenda put it, just disgusting. I felt so bad for Alina, Marty, and Brenda, watching two spots open up that they could have had. It's really unfortunate that they get to be on the jury, they sure as hell don't deserve it. And I'm sure Naonka's choice for the winner will be based on her warped logic and change the whole vote.

So annoying! I'm glad Jeff got on their case. It's one thing to quit two or three days in, when you have just realized what you got yourself into and decided it's not for you. It's another thing to stick around for a MONTH and then decide it's not for you. What jerks.

And I really can't believe Naonka didn't give up her spot in the reward challenge. She would be leaving that night to eat all the hot dogs and watch all the movies she wants, yet she feels the need to go on the reward and deprive the rest of the non-quitters of a tarp and food. Disgusting.

Yeah Nokia still going to Reward was bullshit. And, seriously, quitting a month into a six-week game is just dumb. It'd be one thing if they quit due to personal reasons, issues with other players (as Sue quit the first All Star season due to Richard) or some other reason. But throwing in the towel with 11 days left to go because you're tired or burnt out? Bullshit.

I don't think either should even be on the jury. I was hoping Jeff would have told them that by quitting they forfeited their right to be on the jury.

I'm not sure Probst is at liberty to make such decisions. I'm sure he'd like to kick their asses, but don't forget that Survivor technicaly is a "game show"; the rules that are made before the game starts probably can't be changed just on a whim only because Probst doesn't approve of the way certain people acted during the course of the game. Sure it's disgusting that NaOnka gets to vote on who get the million, but there's probably nothing anybody can do about it without risking some annoying law suits.

In the past, from what I recall, any quitting players left before the jury was being built. The problem here is if Naionka and Kelly just went home, rather than to the jury, then the jury would be too small for the finale phase of the game. What then?

^ When Janu quit in Palau, she was still allowed to sit on the jury too. I agree with those who have said though that it shouldn't have been allowed then or now. I've got no sympathy for either of them. Although I don't think either of them had any chance to win the game, unless the final 3 had ended up NaOnka, Kelly, Dan.

At least now it improves Fabio and Jane's chances a bit more. And while it was a good selfless move by Holly last night, and earned her a ton of respect....it could paint a bigger target on her back, as it likely scored her a few jury votes. She was also coming off pretty sanctimonious last night which was a bit irritating.

As a final note, the product placement for the movie last night was really, really irritating. Sure didn't make me want to go see it.

From Probst's blog:

I know a lot of you are angry right now because Naonka and Purple Kelly are allowed to be on the jury, so let me explain.

The reason they will both be members of the jury is because a precedent had already been set back when Janu quit in Survivor: Palau. Janu quit the game but was allowed to be on the jury, so we used the same reasoning with Naonka and Purple Kelly. It wasn’t an emotional decision, just an issue of fairness.

And yes…Marty, Alina and Brenda were very upset when they found out these quitters would still get to have a vote to decide who wins the million dollars.

There's more on that decision in an "update" at the bottom of of the blog.

At this point, of course, the final tribal council has already been filmed and the vote tabulated. So there's not really any point in protesting the decision to keep the quitters on the jury.

Although Probst hints that they may consider revising the rules in the future . . . .

By Benry, we hardly knew ye. :(

I was hoping Fabio wouldn't get booted, I like that little gaffer.

Sash has slimed his way in to contention, pretty remarkable considering how many people he's screwed over. If everything goes right, Dan and Fabio are next, but you never know in this game....
