At the moment, I can't find anything on TV to watch so I don't. I'm a huge Sci-Fi nut, but I find I have particular tastes. At the moment my TV show watching consists of:
House
Dexter
The Walking Dead
True Blood
Rescue me
SGU
That's it! That is the only TV I watch!
I needed a Sci-Fi fix so my friend introduced me to SGU and I was hooked (mostly because I LOVE me some Robert Carlyle but we won't talk about that...)
But I do agree on some things-
Its draggy- A lot of episodes seem like they have no point. I can deal with a novella arch but the episodes all better be leading to something to tie it all together. Up until this weeks episode, I didn't see it happening.
I don't like the majority of the characters-
Absolutely Hate:
Col Young - Are you kidding me? I'd be in the brig because I would deck his ass so fast for being so DUMB (YOU ARE SO DUMB, FOR REAL...)
Eli - A Suck up and a whiny dork. Gives Nerds a REALLY bad name. I would be beating him up and stealing his lunch money every day just for being such a tattle tale.
Chloe - What is this? Better make her get infected with Alien ju-ju to make her at least semi-interesting.
Matt - Boring, boring, boring.
The lady who was on ER - She just seems annoying in general
Blondie wannabe doctor woman with the baby lost in space-I don't care about you. Please go off and die or something instead of looking like its such a chore to live all the time.
Dislike:
Rush - I really want to like him. And I did like him for a bit. The screwing Chloe over thing did turn me however. I wanted him to be bad for the greater (or his own good). I can understand that Machiavellian principal. I don't care if this recent episode explained why he was being a for the most part. The Chloe thing really bothers me. And its Robert Friggin' Carlyle. I WANT TO LIKE HIM EVEN IF HE IS BAD!!!!!!!
Like:
Geer: I know I am in the minority here but I do like him. Now that they've make him less angry and having a little fun, he's the only one who makes me smile though they started him out on the wrong foot as a huge stereotype.
When I really think about it, I almost feel like the series does women a great injustice. All of them are whiny, weak, there so you can look at their boobs or mostly useless. The ONLY chick who I liked was the Lucian Alliance leader because she was decisive and strong and not afraid to LIVE. Seriously, every other female on the show has some sort of ISSUE going on. They aren't very interesting at all. Matter of fact, if you took them off the show, I don't think anyone would really notice.
This week's episode was a step in the right direction. I wanna see if they can incorporate nuBSG, Voyager, FarScape into one cohesive element. I do think the series does have potential. I know Mr. Carlyle can act so maybe give him some better material than snaking around all the time.
Kill off Young. Okay, maybe don't kill him off but maybe have the ship get inside his brain and wipe him clean so we can start over and I won't feel like punching the TV every time he opens his mouth.
Give the women something to do that is interesting that doesn't involve tight shirts, being saved, being the ship's
"ho" or crying and being sullen over space babies or girlfriends on the home world.
I keep watching because I like dark space drama's and I keep hoping for it to get better... And maybe it might... but these are just my thoughts.
Thanks for playing along!
