Sorry about the darker photos, the grand ballroom was poorly lit at the best of times, and the stage too far away for the flash to be truly effective, and I was sitting in the front row.

It was my first convention and I had a lot of fun. I hope to go again next year.

^*is soooooooo jealous*

(never been)

(btw Firecrackrrr - you are sooo frickin cute!!!!!)

Thanks, this was my first convention. :D

Actually, the best times were off stage. I sat with Vaughn Armstrong over a beer in the hotel bar after the show, and we talked for nearly an hour about family and life in general. You know, the word gets passed around that Scott Bakula is the nicest guy in Star Trek, but I would bet Vaughn could give him a run for his money. He's also very funny and can burn up a harmonica.

Oh, and Bob O'Reilly reminds me of Dick Van Patten when he's out of makeup. I and several others were having a conversation with this wonderfully sweet man who was sitting next to us in the restaurant, and it was only after he left that I found out it was Bob Reilly. He's adorable!

Chicago too no less - so close! (Michigan)

I'm glad to hear they really are nice. good on ya spreading some economic cheer around the great lakes area too !

Oh, Chicago was amazing! It was the first time I had ever been in a major city, and I looked like the typical tourist with my head up in the air and gawking at everything I passed by. Just to shout out, there's a fantastic little pizza place near the hotel named "Giordanos". Best pizza I've ever had.

I had saved up for this event from the moment I had found out about it, and even got my friend to split the costs so we could both go. It is truly an experience I shall never forget. The only downside to the whole convention was that Leonard wasn't able to show up, but considering the circumstances, it's more than understandable. I hope to see him next year, though.

did you tell Chase you were a member of TrekBBS, the forum where she got banned?

Yeah, I mentioned TrekBBS, and she seemed to recall it, but I didn't mention the whole banning incident and she didn't say anything about it. Maybe EMH is finally off the hook. :D

hmmmmm. if it's an annual event now might be the time to start planning and saving. I've never been to one but it's def on my very short bucket list. I did see a blurb about Nimoy's illness - didn't put the two together.

We had only found out about it while we were in line for event registration on Friday morning. I was about 10th from the front and a man comes out and puts up a hastily written sign that said Nimoy had to cancel due to personal family issues. Oh, you could hear the ripple of the news going through the crowd. There was one group who had traveled from Hawaii just to see Nimoy, and they were flabbergasted. Many people were angry, because they had taken the day off of work to come see him. Once everyone found out what had actually happened, though, and why he had to cancel, things were taken much better by all.

I like to recall the saying about no riots ar StarTrek cons but that must've been close. I'd feel badly driving from Mich but from Hawaii? Oh, I'd be upset even though it couldn't be helped.

Ms. Masterson is still looking quite fabulous. must be the genes *sighs*

Oh, she is amazing. My best friend asked her to marry him. She looked at him, smiled and said how sweet that was, but it was that smile that said "Someone get this nut away from me".

Later he would tell her he was joking, but I just about died when he asked her.

If he guest starred on Hugh Laurie's show, would he have to say

"Glory to you...and HOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUSSSSE"? ;)

Ha!

Here's a few more pics:

Here's me and Vaughn at the bar (after several drinks ):

Marc Alaimo seen off stage:

What's funny about that one is that my friend actually took the picture. He sees Alaimo and says, "Mr. Alaimo, may I please get your picture?", and Marc says "Yes, but make it quick", and the way he says it sounds just like Dukat giving a command and I just about fainted.. He's a very friendly man, though, and a terrific actor.

Here's Armin Shimmerman while signing autographs. My friend and I wanted a picture and we asked if we could take a photo and the Creation agent sitting there says "no, you can't", and Armin interrupts him with "why not? As long as I don't pose for it", which was true, because it wasn't technically a photo op, and so we got the shot. After the shot, he smiled at us and thanked us for coming to the convention. Great guy.

What happened to his hand?

He didn't charge you any strips of latinum?

Oh man I LOVE conventions. Those are amazing photos J. Allen. I went to the Calgary con a few months ago (where I got my pic with Mr. Nimoy :D ) and I must've annoyed the hell out of so many people because I snapped about 2600 pics in 2 days :guffaw: so many good memories! :D

I really really wish I could afford to go to the San Diego con. Or at least WonderCon. I think my next one is going to be the TrekCon here in Vancouver though. This year in June, Leonard Nimoy and Bill Shatner were both there (photo ops with both!!!) but unfortunately I couldn't afford to go. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
