Sarah Jane Adventures: Series 4

I was pleasantly surprised by that as well!

Though I do wonder WHY Sarah-Jane didn't want NASA to find out about it. Everyone ALREADY knew about aliens and various governmental agencies had examples of the stuff in various bunkers around the world. Furthermore, no one's occupied that pyramid since 1911 and the former tennant is currently stuck in a time tunnel. Really, is there any danger in letting people know it's there? It's just a matter of time anyway - less than fifty years from now they'll have a base there - and from many, many episodes of Doctor Who we know humanity isn't about to get any less curious, gullible, or greedy. :P

I know. Yikes!

Sam, is your avatar supposed to be a spinning circle, or has it just never loaded for my browser?

That will NEVER, EVER LOAD...

Well, it HAS been almost forty years since we last saw Jo. She's old. We're all heading in that direction. Katy may have made some poor decisions in personal upkeep, but I'm still just happy to see her again in the role.

Its a shame some people just can't accept getting old. But hey, like they say, its whats inside that counts.

Oooh, lots of goodies about next weeks episode here:

Lord, please tell me the 70's looking kid in the turquoise shirt isn't Lukes replacement. Between him and the puppet vultures running about I'm having Sid and Marty Kroft flashbacks!

Although Sarah doesn't know about the Mars base. I guess she figures theres no point in taking a chance. Anything that scares the Doctor is probably not something that humans should be messing with.
Otoh, the writer of this episode seems to have forgotten that aliens are common knowledge now. *facepalm*

Yeah, WTF!? I just watched the episode and that's what I came her to ask/bitch about...

I can see why Sarah Jane Smith might want to hide knowledge of the Mars pyramids - because they contain something dangerous, and she's trying to keep humans from stumbling onto them before they are ready...but there was NO reason for everyone to go around acting like aliens are some big secret now...not after the Xmas Invasion, the Battle of Canary Warf & the Cybermen, the Earth being stolen and the planets in the sky, and species 456!!!

Heck, they even *acknowledged* in one episode of SJA that Clive's father knew about the Daleks!

Even Torchwood aren't a big secret anymore, but common knowledge!!!

Unless somehow all the business with the cracks and Amy not knowing about the Daleks has reset everything and now people have no memory of aliens..again. *sigh*.

Really, if that is the case then they should make it clear...and if not, then they should pay more attention to continuity...

i just assumed that since Amy forgot about the Daleks and planets in the sky that everyone else must have. that's how i rationalize it. but yeah, they should come out state if everyone forgot or what.

It's been noted, either in this thread or another SJA thread, that the kid everyone keeps thinking is Luke's replacement is Jo's grandson.

Don't know if I want him to be a replacement character or not, since I haven't seen any S2 or S3.

yes im wondering if they are going to replace him this seasn, his replacement may well not pop up till the end or even next season.

with only 6 episdoes a year (Luke was in the 1st, so 5) I suspect it maybe possible to get though this season without a new regular. Death to the Doctor obviously has Jos Grandson, so thast only really 4 episodes they are without a 2nd male character in the group.

I think its feesable the BBC are going to save the wage bill.

His replacement could be a character intorudced in the finale.

I'm sure I read that Luke is in the finale so that would save the need for a replacement there as well.

One of the other stories is very much focused on Clyde & Rani so again they don't really need another character at that point.

Regarding the - who knows about aliens thing - it could be the cracks I suppose but I think they've just decided not to care to be honest. It works best in the SJA format if people don't know so I think they'll just stick with that.

You do get that in shared universes sometimes - in DC Comics they still try and get away with the - I didn't believe you super heroes really existed line even though in universe they have been around for 70 years.

As long as the stories are good I couldn't care less.

I think you are right about that.

So yes if Luke is in 2 of the 6, Death to the Doctor has plenty of extras. That leaves 3 episodes.

Last series Luke really was not around much, granted he was in most episodes, but only played a small role, he was even sidelined in The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith.

So actually I think those 3 episodes will be ok.

I don't know why Luke's even needed anymore, this weeks worked perfectly well with just Clyde and Rani.

Anyway, I liked this weeks, I thought Mr Dredd was quite good, shame he can't show up in Who. Liked the return of Androvax(sp?) and I liked the fact that I didn't quite guess how this was going to end. I'm guessing Androvax will die, but his race will be reborn.

Obviously looking forward to next week for some reason that escapes me at the moment... :)
