Worf Getting Pwned

Blech, that song was redundant and annoying the first time it came out, let alone today.

I dunno.... Worf took a lot of hits over the years, but I think he kicked more ass then he had his ass kicked.

Same with O'Brien..... he was regularly being tortured or beaten up in some horrible manner every few weeks..... but he'd still come back for more and put the boots to anybody who'd screw with him.

I was just thinking of this the other day when we watched Violations and Worf literally pimp-slaps Jev. Yes, Jev wasn't much of a physical opponent, but I have to admire the subtlety of the episode's director when he didn't overdo the scene. He could have had Worf do a bunch of screaming and arm flailing to try and look impressive onscreen, but instead he just had Dorn give a "whap" and Jev dropped like a sack of potatoes.

It always bothered me that Worf got beat as much as he did, considering his position of Security Chief.

I think that Worf tended to kick more ass in DS9 compared to TNG.

Well I dunno.... unless he was out numbered, shot while unarmed, attacked from behind or against some super powerful being..... he generally kicked everybody's arse in both TNG and DS9.

After all, every Klingon he came up against he took out.... he took on Duras and won.... he took on Duras's son and won (while out numbered with only Dax and Kor helping him).... He took on Gowron and won.....

.... and while one could argue Gowron was a mere politician, don't forget that he took on Emperor Kahless and won..... so he knew how to fight and he almost beat Worf.

If anything, Worf was probably the best Klingon warrior of his time.... but you can't expect him to win against everybody against every situation.

I found that in TNG, they usually had Worf thrown into a situation against a more powerful opponent and loose in order to portray just how powerful and dangerous the individual in question was....... perhaps though they did this a little too much.

Added:

I just looked at the video and talk about edited, one-sided and kind of skewing perspective a bit.

Most shown in that video have explanations I've previously mentioned.... half, if not more then half of the scenes shown were actually fights he won, but they don't show that..... the rest were usually him getting his arse kicked by some possessed being, shape shifter, multiple people coming at him at the same time, an android, genetically modified soldiers who were made to increase in strength, speed and agility when threatened, etc.....

..... I doubt many others could do better then what he did.

Yeah, but out of context it's pretty funny.

And as security chief he has a way better record than Reed (tactical officer, but for all intents and purposes the same thing) in ENT. That guy was everyone's punching bag.

This sums it up nicely.

As Security chief, Worf was thrown into these situations WAY more than anyone else. And put every other character in Trek in these same situations save Data, Odo and maybe Seven of Nine, the same outcome, probably worse, would have occured.

Heck, Yar died within her first year on the job. Worf did pretty good, relatively speaking.

In all those years, they totally missed to let the Klingons fight using actual martial arts. All those fights are so badly choreographed it's not even funny.

Hey, what's wrong with the "double axe-handle to the stomach, followed by a double axe-handle to the back of the head" move?

Works every time.

I found it in a blog on Wordpress and have to admit...I love every second of it. I'm not exactly a world class Worf fan...stemming from being such a big Imzadi fan, and Worf just butted his big Klingon turtle head in on that. Though I have to admit...had it not been for that, Worf would have been okay I suppose.

Nope, I'm with yah. Besides the whole "Imzadi" thing(BTW that's one of my favorite novels) he was always kind of emo. DS9 straightened him up.

I think I'm probably one of, if not the, biggest Imzadi fan out there, LOL. I drive my Trek friends a little crazy with it...and I'll admit, it's probably the only reason I don't like Worf. Haven't read all of Imzadi Forever yet...my friend is reading it first to make sure I'm actually going to like it.

I'd have to say my fav TNG novel that I've read so far has been Q-in-Law, also written by Peter David. I'm also greatly enjoying A Time To Love and A Time To Hate cause of the good Riker/Troi stuff in it. I'm looking forward to getting to the Titan series...which a friend of mine has said has Riker/Troi smut in it, LOL

^^^ I read the first two Titan novels and very much liked them. Riker and Troi - Worf works very nicely.

My favorite novel of all time is Q-Squared and so I naturally followed up with Peter David's Imzadi.

Wanted to see Peter David at DragonCon this past Labor Day...but didn't get around to it. Was way to busy doing all of Marina's events and talking to her...which you know the pairing is a WTF moment when even the actress herself disliked it. Yeah, I was brave enough to ask her about it, lol. She's a self proclaimed Riker girl all the way, LOL
