Ok, finally saw the whole episode, here at 3 AM, heh.

For an episode titled "Supergirl" we didn't see as much of her as I thought we would, and we didn't get to see her doing many Supergirl things, only in the first scene where she flew in and held up the billboard. I was hoping for some more Supergirl saves, and some more slow flying or hovering from her, not just whoooooooosh blurry flying just like we see Clark do when he runs.

Yeah, I'm underhwelmed with the episode, it had great potential with that title: "Supergirl" but come on, it just didn't come together as powerful as it could have. I did like the creation of her dual identity though, how very awesome.

I am more than ever now firm in my belief that Supergirl is the real hero. I mean she has done everything first, flying, costume, dual identity, everything Clark does will now be FOLLOWING her in second place cause she's already done it all! She's a better hero than he is right now, she was the first. So really, what's the point of Clark? Sure, he was sent to Earth to protect it or whatever, some great "destiny", but Kara is on the scene now and is more capable than he is to do the same job! So why can't she be the savior of Earth Jor-El wanted?

Clark is like hero-deficient or something, the only Kryptonian in the universe who can't do everything Superman can do. Every other Kryptonian that has been on this show could have been Superman.

Oh yeah, and too much Ollie for an episode titled "Supergirl" It was like his glory there at the end, he stole the show, it should have gone out honoring Supergirl. What I wanted to see for the end of this episode was some scream and Clark watches Kara walk into an alley and rip open her shirt, revealing her costume, and then fly up into the air in classic Supergirl/Superman style, and fly off toward the camera to save a citizen.

Oh yea, my grade, a Blur, Average, I wish it would have been higher, but completely underwhelming.

As stated before this was poorly written or maybe even more poorly edited...I am not sure what was leaved out. Ollie got it in the end...but Lois was more dominate and I have no idea why they even bothered bringing Kara back if this was how it was going to turn out.

They may have Supergirl going off into the future to be with the Legion at some point.

Yeah I agree. "No Flights, No Tights" worked for the first four seasons of the show but once the series relocated to Metropolis and Clark started to take on his hero persona they should have dropped that insufferable motto and made him fly. It's probably expensive but I'm sure they could just use restocked footage or simply pick their spots when they need him to fly. Sigh

Also...they totally ripped off the end of "Iron Man" with the Ollie press conference at the end of the episode. Lois was essentially Pepper with Ollie a stand in for Tony, right down to the cliffhanger style ending and the reaction on Ollie's face.

The no flying at this point as I have stated before is BS.
I didn't mind OQ having a GA reveal but this isn't the ep for it IMHO.

They wasted LV/Kara. :(

Yep, this episode seemed more about Oliver and Lois than it did Supergirl, yet the episode was titled Supergirl. I wanted her glory shot at the end of the episode, not Oliver.

Gosh I love Laura though, I wish they had given her more to do in this episode. I find it real funny she had to save Clark at the end, he just stands there while this vortex of death pigeons start swirling around him, like an idiot, not trying to actually do anything.

In S4 he should have flown...they had Kal El fly in the freakin' premiere for crying out loud.

They wasted Laura in a reduced role that really didn't accomplish anything. She even gave up helping Clark after one attempt showing her own sense of disbelief in her own cousin. I suppose it's still possible to have Imra, Rokk, and Garth return in the second half of the season and if that happens I'd love for them to extend an offer to Kara to join them in the future. When Lois mentions someone to come home to Kara I couldn't help but think of Brainy!

She's looks quite fetching as a brunette. Pretty cool Darkseid too although he's essentially similar to the demons from Supernatural in the form of black smoke, which could also work if he were to appear in the Nolan/Snyder Superman movie. The whole scene in the S&M club was pretty racy too.

This is what sucks not having Laura available to do more eps...I think they needed 3 eps to really tell Kara's story and it was just wasted and some feedback I have seen elsewhere we aren't alone in our feelings about this.

[edit] They had 3 stories going on here that could have been fleshed out more...Oliver, Kara & Clark & Godfrey/Darkseid...Lois seemed to take up alot in this ep.

[add] WTF! Kandorians? Hello!? Not even a mention..."here is this thing here and I may have opened it"...WHAT!?

Is Kara just oblivious about Zod???

I'm not sure any show has successfully trolled its own viewers for longer than Smallville.

I loved that Kara was back, but then she didn't appear too much and Clark continues to be a whiny little egocentric bastard who thinks the world must revolve completely around him.

Yeah, why should Clark's debut as Superman be a big deal now in the world of Smallville? Kara's already done it. Clark will be just another hero that can fly. Why is he more special than Kara?

It reminds me of a few seasons ago when they decided to give Lana all of Clark's powers and none of his weaknessess.

@Jet...Kara probably has no clue about the clone Kandorians. Clark didn't exactly explain why he opened the portal in the first place when he showed it to her and she didn't ask. Another example of poor writing. You'd think that Kara would wonder why Clark was opening portals using the Book of Rao in the first place.

I gave this a "good" but the more I think about it...this episode sucked.

Yeah, I was disappointed this was never brought up but not surprised at all.

This was an average episode that borderline sucked and shouldn't have been called "Supergirl" at all. It almost felt that Kara's story was the b-plot and Ollie was the focus on the episode. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear that Laura is going to be doing one more episode with her later in the season.

Oh and folks who have been pandering for Bruce to show up...Ollie essentially has been Bruce so you're seeing what they would do if he was on the show, pathetic.

Where was Laura Vandervoort in the credits? I didn't see her name.

I read an interview with Tom Welling yesterday where he mentioned he wanted to get the same feeling from the Smallville finale that he got during 24 finale...that he'll live on to fight another day or something to that effect.
It can't end any other way, but 24 is a bad comparison. :p

Here's hoping we get flights.
Almost.

"Isn't that your cousin, Clark?"

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I wonder how he'll explain that one!
Maybe Lois thinks they're both meteor rock freaks.

Clark looked pissed that someone stole his thunder.
One thing I liked about the Lois & Clark Superman is that when another hero came on the scene he told them that he didn't care and that he could use all the help he could get.

So basically, Supergirl did it first in Smallville and Superman will just be following her. Way to go, Clark...

The Blur still predates Supergirl and has more of a mystique, so his coming out will be big. Also, remember that Google wasn't the first search engine and Facebook wasn't the first social networking site. Besides, even in the DC universe, Superman wan't the first superhero eventhough he became one of the biggest ones if not the biggest.

Nice flashback with Chlo to Season 9's 'Warrior'.
At first, I thought it was new footage.

ya notice the black smoke in the cab of the car with them?
Lost reference. Hadn't thought of that. In any case, I don't like this take on Darkseid. He's not menacing enough as a smoke monster or a CGI creature. I want a big hulking guy with omega beams. Hopefully we'll get that eventually.

Guess the barn needs some more work, huh?
I had the same thought.

Kara looks like a dark-haired Taylor Swift. I like.
I was waiting for her to call herself "Linda Lee".

And I thought she looked like Lynda Carter as Diana Prince.

Wow, Tony Stark admited he's, oh wait.

Also...they totally ripped off the end of "Iron Man" with the Ollie press conference at the end of the episode.
Yeah. This was their Iron Man tribute.

I think I saw this club on Caprica
I didn't like the "Club Desaad" as an homage. I want to see the real Desaad.

I though Desaad was going to be in this???

http://www.kryptonsite.com/supergirlguests.htm

I am still wondering if we will see Desaad later on played by Steve Byers.
Thanks for the link. I'm glad to hear that we'll be seeing Desaad at some point. Interesting that they chose Steve Byers. I figured on someone older. Hopefully we'll see Kalibak too.

Lois annoyed the hell out of me this episode again. I really can't stand how they're writing Lois...I feel bad for Erica.

Lois was annoying at times and I have hated the way the character has be written for 2 seasons now...
She's probably my favorite take on the character both in looks and personality.

Nah, I've liked Durance with the dark brown hair.
I can't even remember her without brown hair.

Really? It didn't feel like an Ollie episode to me.

That got my attention too. Kara should have been upset that he caused this whole mess. At least he came out with it though.

Well I watched it,and absolutely loved the episode.Brent you can go to www.cwtv.com/Smallville and watch a full episode online.
As to the opinion that this season rocks count me in,because I think that the episodes are well written, acted, and directed.
plus the fact this is the last season we don't know what the CW has up its slate for the future.
Signed
Buck Rogers

Well it's been entertaining so far but as for well acted and written that's debatable and I've already given my views on that. I think that this season will end up regarded as one of the series best. Let's hope that the execution is there. That has always been one of "Smallville's problems, they're execution of their plans.
