Why did you choose your login name and avatar?

Cause Jetfire iz da Shiznit.
My av is usually Rita Hayworth...I adore her. :adore:

Avatar: Re-Animator is my fav movie and Jeffrey Combs is fav actor.

Wow, I love that drawing! Where did you get it and who drew it? It's always good to see another fan of that movie. The origin of my user name and avatar should be obvious to all fans of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". And as if it wasn't obvious enough, my signature actually spells out the scene that I got my user name from!

"Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and especially my favourite episode "Trials and Tribble-Ations" were a big influence over me joining this forum. I watched the show for the first time in 2008 and became enamoured with it, so I really wanted to have people to discuss it with. Most of my avatars have been favourite Jadzia Dax moments from that episode, as it's the one that made her my favourite Star Trek character. I find her performance and dialog in it adorable. :adore:

I'd like to say my user name was supposed to be clever, but Locutus in Latin means "he having spoken" or "he who just spoke," so "He Who Just Spoke of Bored" doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense. I blame the Borg for not assimilating someone who was better at speaking Latin. Mostly I just picked it because 'Best of Both Worlds' is one of my favorite episodes, Locutus was badass, and bored sounds like Borg and fits my personality (I easily get bored of things).

My current avatar is to fit the Halloween theme, with Locutus on a pumpkin; which is technically a squash and not a gourd, but it's in the same family. Plus, Locutus of Squash doesn't really work. I like to keep the Halloween (and Christmas) names new and creative each year but still recognizable as my old user name. It was either this or Electrocutus of Bored with an electrocution theme. I'll probably use that next year if I remember it.

I picked my regular name/avatar because normal tribbles and cute and sweet and fluffy, and Spock finds them soothing whether he'll admit it or not.

I picked my Halloween name/avatar because, in the mirrorverse, tribbles will consume your soul and spit out your bones. But in a cute way!

My username is the first initial and last name. This was the username I had when I first joined the board. I have changed it several times during my time here, and let me tell you, if you change yours, do it now before everyone knows you, because afterward, they'll just keep calling you your original name, or start mixing it in with different usernames.

As for the avatar, I change them often, and usually they all have a theme. The current av is Astroboy, and the theme is courage.

Name is because it was my internet nick by the time I got here, a combo of my old EMH and Eomer.

Avatar is a closeup of my favrotie car of all time, the new Chevrolet Camaro SS :D

I chose my name partly becasue I saw it on some remote Trek site's humor page (What If The Borg Assimillates Famous Figures, or something...)--and partly because I wrote for my church talent show a skit in which I played the Doctor of Democracy on his show. It's supposed to be Open Line Friday, and his show for some strange reason gets filled with callers who all happen to be Trekkies.

The punch line is that the very last caller is a Borg drone who intends to assimilate him--and apparently does.

My typical avatar is basically an older publicity photo of Rush by the golden EIB mike. The Borg symbol I'm using right now (along with the more creepy accessories) is just for Halloween, of course. ;)

My Username dates back to when I first went online back in 1993. All three of the names I had in mind-- Diogenes, Baby Driver and something else-- were all taken. AOL tried to add a string of random numbers at the end, but I preferred to add my initials at the beginning.

My Avatar is Goofy Grape, one of the Funny Face characters-- a Kool Aid-like drink mix-- from the 60s and 70s. It was my favorite flavor. He was a big hit and I became associated with him very quickly, so now I'd never use anything else.

Another Re-Animator fan? Yayz! *high five*

I got it a long time ago...

The artwork is done by a guy that goes by the name "Melo" in Brazil. I don't know anymore about the artist other than that. But I do know that he's drawn the best damn Herbert West I've ever seen. It looks more like Jeff than any of the other comic books out there. (Even though it's just test art.)

The sad part is that these particular comics with this artist never came into fruition, for some reason. The idea for the story was supposed to be about the stuff that went on in between the movies. I would have loved to have known how Herbert survived Dr. Hill's intestines, why Dan continued to work with and forgive (?) him after losing his scholarship and his girlfriend, and also how they weren't arrested and convicted. Then there is the 13 year gap between the second and third movie...

Anyway, with a bit of Googling, I found the website I got the artwork from:

When I joined the board, I wanted to have a nick with a sci-fi connection that's not too apparent and I figured all the good Trek ones had already been taken. So I chose Count Zero, the title of a book by one of my favourite writers, William Gibson. I like it because it can also be seen as a person, a count by the name of Zero. On another board I use it, that's the way it has been seen, people there call me Zero if they want to shorten it or countess in German. My avatars change fairly often, it's usually something I fancy at the moment.
My Halloween name is my favourite villain, the original Dr. Mabuse from the silent movie two-parter made by Fritz Lang. The actor usually played villains in Fritz Lang movies (he also played Rotwang in Metropolis) and he's one of my favourite actors, despite (or maybe because of?) the overacting. My current avatar is him from the movie with my previous avatar, a poster for Stephen Colbert's march to keep fear alive incorporated into it. I thought it was fitting for Halloween. It doesn't quite look as innocuous in the background as I wanted it to but my GIMP skills are limited.
My current signature is a quote from the movie.

Wait, Rush Limbaugh, who dropped out of college after one semester and advocates (flipping between extremes depending on issue, mood, convenience and probably day of the week) a complete libertarian or strongly authoritarian form of state, call himself the Doctor of Democracy?

Did you ever eat at the Mesquite Tree Grill?

Haven't tried that place. I'll have to check it out. Though, I'm a vegetarian... Guess my husband might like it. :techman:

Actually, I want to tell you to avoid it. Place has really gone downhill the last few years (especially since the original owner died). Though I haven't been there in two years, so it might have improved. You can get a better burger at Chilis, though.

:lol::guffaw::lol::guffaw::lol::guffaw::lol:

Well...if you listened to the show as much as you seem to let on (what with your assumptions about what he "advocates")...you'd have heard that nickname at least once. ;)
