Season four was fun, but I liked the first season best. A lot of the stuff they did in the last year was what one online commentator aptly described as "a reach-around for the hard core fans who'd stuck with the show" and that also suggests why there was no real hope of a viewership uptick based on the new direction - going back and mining the past of the Franchise as they did does not mean that shows like the Vulcan's Forge arc offered a lot to someone who might be coming new to the show in 2004/2005. That kind of thing virtually demanded that you know and give a damn about characters like Surak and the history of the Vulcan/Romulan thing before you turn on the TV.

BUT B + B
kicked out that turd-burger "These are the Voyages" as a gift to the fans..showing just how creatively bankrupt they had become..and eliminating any chance to close out Enterprise on a high note by adding one more TNG episode to the list..

Braga at least has started to distance himself from TATV, admitting it wasn't all that he wanted it to be.

Berman has said little that I've heard...but that big interview that someone linked to on you tube pretty much was hours of him yammering about how great GR was and how everyone should bow before him. He gave little impression of understanding how pissed off the fans were at him towards the end (not that the interviewer really ever challenged him either).

Not really, they told you everything you needed to know IN the story. That was the purpose of the "flashbacks".

I liked Ent's third season the best. The fourth season was hit and miss and sounded better on paper than execution. I don't get why it got all the buzz. The second season was absolutely awful but the first season had potential.

^What eps "missed" for you in S4? The only ones that I didn't enjoy the hell out of were the openers (dealing with the end of the TCW), and of course the botched abortion that was TATV.

"Bound" is another stinker, as is "Daedalus." Basically, all the episodes that didn't form mini-arcs, with the possible exception of "Observer Effect."

^Hmmm...interesting.

I wasn't overly fond of "Observer Effect", but I didn't dislike it either. Bound is a great ep. Not perfect (I thought the effect of the phermones was overplayed just a touch), but it was Classic Trek in that it took an assumption and stood it on ear. We learned something in that ep about Orion culture that completely changes the way we look at them.

^^ The only one I didn't like was that abomination of a finale. There were ones that were before average (Storm Front, Parts I and II, Daedalus, and Bound) but even they weren't awful.

I'd say a season that delivers 17 great episodes and 4 "meh" episodes out of 22 total is one damn good season.

Agreed. IMO there aren't any bad episodes in 4th season. They were all great.
Still I seem to be the only one who enjoyed Storm Front :)

Statements in the form of "That's just your opinion. It was good." are implying "Your opinion sucks, my opinion is better."
So? Of course it's implied. Jeez! How touchy can you get? Anytime someone says I disagree they're implying they think your opinion is wrong. And you do exactly the same thing when you disagree with someone else's opinion.

I will sit through a lot of crap if a series delivers an occasional real highlight, as Enterprise did (and hell, I've watched most of DS9). This is largely because I've watched enough TV to have decided that most TV drama delivers a lot of disposable stuff while never producing something I really like. C'est la guerre.

I found much of ENTERPRISE unwatchable, especially SPACE NAZI. The fourth season may have had good intentions, but they still were bad compared to some of Trek's better efforts.

Then again, I find most TV drama unwatchable. I'd rather watch football or South Park.

I enjoyed it insofar as it went. I just was never enamored of the TCW in general, and was left wanting by the resolution (for example: we never learn the identity of Future Guy).

Star Trek is like bacon. It never stops being good. It just tastes funny when it has been sitting around for a while.
