The initial chart positions are in, even #4 in the US is pretty damn good.

Indeed. It is their best studio album in years, and IMHO it ranks alongside some of their great classic albums.

I am, again, sorely disappointed. Very boring album. I don't know why, but I just can't get into post-Seventh Son era Iron Maiden.

It's all Janick Gers fault, I tell ya. That's the ticket.

^Nah, Gers is fine. He's written his share of great Maiden tracks.

I love the new album so far. Satellite 15, The Talisman, and El Dorado are my favourite songs on it.

Which ones, in your opinion? I haven't really liked much at all post-Seventh Son, and Gers is the only thing common with all post-Seventh Son albums!

IMO, here are some examples of good Maiden songs written or co-written by Gers after he joined the band:

Be Quick Or Be Dead (Fear of the Dark)
Lord of the Flies (The X Factor)
Ghost of the Navigator (Brave New World)
The Legacy (A Matter Of Life And Death; IMO one of the best Maiden songs ever)
The Talisman (The Final Frontier)
