Friendship Outside of the BBS

And, Shameless, two serious martini drinkers like us just HAVE to meet in person some day ... and drink ourselves into oblivion. LOL!

Hell yeah! Much gin will be drank and olives consumed. ;)

^ Hi. I don't think we have ever met before. My name is AstroSmurf and I am a stubborn old cow very much set in my ways. You don't wear me down. I wear you down. :vulcan: Thanks!

Hi, perhaps we haven't met before either. I'm Hispanic and a Capricorn. I take that stubbornness as a challenge. :p

Hey now. There is no reason to be insulting ...

Oooh, bitch! I see how it is. :p

Aw, thanks man! :) Too bad I don't like beer much  Don't worry man, we'll go for some kind of drink at some point :techman:

You bet your sweet ass. I'm a gin drinker lol. I'm sure we can find something for you.
I'm gonn be like Marshall in "How I Met Your Mother" and love the fruity drinks with umbrellas, I'm sure

Hey in all due fairness, those drinks sneak up on you since you can't taste the alcohol. I bet you'd love a mojito.

Do you hang out in Harvard Square or Quincy Center?

Not usually. That's the reason I said "probably not". :p

But I did just get back from an interview at State Street in Wallaston. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Yeah I could try that. I'm such a bad drinker really, but I can make exceptions.

What a fairy.
Actually, he's an alien from the planet Quispex.

I am not. Flukie might be though... when I use the power of my mind to believe he is real.
I meant Flukie (referring to his Avatar). Maybe I lost track of the conversation. :rommie:

In addition, the local Boston/MA contingent: RJDiogenes, Spocked, SmoothieX, did I forget anyone? Probably.
Also Dukat's Major (formerly Elmo Dukat), who is married to SPOCKED; they're sort of down the Cape-ish, but not too far away.

Thanks for the info, and congratulations to Spocked and Dukat! How the heck did I miss that?
Something about the Mutara Nebula and two-dimensional thinking... I forget exactly. :D I hope everything goes well with your knee. :)

You were about a stone's throw from my house and half a stone's throw from where I work (when I go in-- I usually work from home now). Good luck with the job. :bolian:

Yeah. RoJo was calling me a fairy, not Flukie. But my own comment about clapping was meant to imply that to start with. I just can't believe he got the joke though. :rommie: (I knew Flukie would.)

I have only met one person IRL outside the US - Niorah and I hung out a few times a few years back on one of my Milan business trips, and we had an absolutely grand time on all occasions. In fact, one of the best meals I have ever eaten in my entire life was eaten with Niorah in a lovely Milan restaurant. The food in Italy is always great...but especially when you avoid the tourist spots and go out with a person who lives there.
I had a great time too! :)
Hopefully you'll be able to make your way to London as well, I have managed to find a few good restaurants here too, amazingly. :techman:

^ OK, Niorah, this may be a bit common, but I gotta ask. Does London have any of these things:

- Delis

- Pizza joints

- More pizza joints?

(I must be prepared for when I visit my British relatives :) )

I don't think I've ever seen a pizza joint in the typical New York style...
There are good places for pizza, yes, definitely. They are (quite obviously) run by Italians. ;)

Delis... not so much, I'm afraid. I found this page that lists a few places, but I don't know how similar they may be to the New York idea of a deli.

Hope it helps. :)

Stop being so insular. If you want those things, go to New York. You don't go to a prime rib joint and ask for the salmon. You'll be in London. Live it up! See what the town has to offer.

I think meeting people from here in person would be fantastic. I've never had the pleasure of being friends with someone who's into Star Trek as much me and other people here are. I've met a few people who like it, but our conversations never went past simple things like "all of the TNG movies sucked, except First Contact". It would be great to talk to someone in person in depth about things like specific episodes of TNG, DS9, or the original series.

Someone from my friends list here once told me they wish they could watch some DS9 episodes with me, and I think that would rock, but unfortunately we live too far apart. I've never had anyone to watch Star Trek episodes with. It sucks! :( I once almost met a member of the site in person, but had to cancel at the last minute. I think it would be nice to get a group together to go to that annual sci-fi convention in Toronto some year.

grrr. have insufficient time to do more than duck in and out for a couple weeks and I miss all the fun! I've never met anyone from here but think it'd be a hoot! IDIC and all; I do suspect I might not have a lot in common with a lot of you but it'd be fun to moot!

I have spoken with one of you on the phone {{{{{YR}}}}} big squish and I have made some really lovely friends here.

Hell, even New York has far more to offer than just that, even as good as those places tend to be there. Relish the variety!

Though really, I don't see the point of visiting a deli in New York City when Montreal exists.

^ If the *Expos* still existed, I might visit Montreal. :)

(yeah yeah, I know, they DO exist, but they're called the Washington Nationals. But I've already been there!)

Kail is my email/facebook buddy, but we haven't met in person (yet!).

I met JohnM in person once. Bought some Enterprise VCDs off of him. Yeah, that was... a few years ago. ;)

I'd be up for hanging with some Trekkie folks, though. If any of you guys are hitting up Atlanta, let me know.

Well, you just missed it about a month ago! (Fan Expo doesn't count as a convention - it's a trade show with actors. ;) )

But we've already got a couple of actors lined up for next year (see my signature), and we have a couple of big author announcements pending, if all goes according to plan (that's one of the areas I'm responsible for - I could tell you who I've been in talks with, but then I'd have to shoot you :p).

If you do make it, get in touch with me beforehand and I'll find some time in my schedule to hang out. (I'm usually one of the blurs in the brightly coloured T-shirts with a headset surgically attached, but it does come off from time to time. ;))

You'll be drinking with me. I'll educate you. And don't worry, i wont let anything happen to you.
