Your Alternative User Names

Locutus of Bored

Yo, Dawg! I Heard You Like Avatars...
In Memoriam
There seem to be a few prominent posters changing their user names recently, and others that change them almost as often as they change their socks (I don't want to name names, but poster whose name rhymes with "A. Talon," I'm looking at you ;)).

When I first joined here after lurking for a while, I briefly toyed with the idea of naming myself The OP just to mess with people, but I decided I didn't want to be too much of a pain in the ass right out of the gate. Just picturing all the topics where someone would post "But the OP said..." and I would pop in to say "no, I didn't!" gives me a evil giggle.

To keep with a Trek theme, on another Trek board I briefly posted at (for TrekXI), I used the handle Inebriated Slime Devil.

So, assuming for the moment that you would change your user name sometime in the future, what new name(s) would you choose? Or, what names did you consider before settling on your current choice?

I have a number of different usernames and internet identities that I'm trying to consolidate.

Out of them all, I liked this one the best.

Truth to tell, I never really liked my old one all that much.

<remains oblivious>

Actually, I'm finding that as I get older, I'm getting more indecisive. I have my own reasons for the name changes, but eventually, a long way down the road (more than a year), I plan on changing back to my original username when I joined the board. Until then, I really like this one. :D

On other forums/other sites I'm known as Microsoft_Matt (or MSMatt or MicrosoftMatt, depending if someone has already taken it for I can't use underscores. I'm also known as "ussabbey-3" on the Omega Sector BBS, sometimes I go by different names, but very rarely.

The current one was my first, and only, choice. However recently, especially in the light of the Misreading Members' Names thread, I'm thinking of shortening it to just iguana. It would be easier to spell for my non-Italian friends, and that's what people call me anyway...

As you can see by looking at inch to the left I used to be Dark Journey. That used to be my standard Internet name since it was an apt metaphor for me. I am trying to get away from that association now so I try not to use it anymore. On various porn boards I have been oldschool, middleschool, and newschool. Now I mostly go with my current name across the Internet.

I took the least imaginative approach to choosing a username -- I just combined my first name and part of my last name. If I ever decide I need a second online moniker, I've thought of several alternatives, including Aerial Bus Driver, Overgrown Jackrabbit, Deviated Prevert, and Toilet Boy.

I've always been fond of Samsonite Rummager.

I started out as FO'SHIZZLE and changed to Gaseous Anomaly about 5 months later. At another board I use Alpha Echo 606, it is not even remotely Trek related. Those are my only user names that I use.

I'm pretty consistent with 'Rii' these days. Only problem is it's too short for some sites/applications.

I go by Kestra everywhere online, and it's hard to imagine changing that. I really like it. If I had to change, I'd probably just use my real name as that's unlikely to be taken.

BTW, I still think of you as Bond. :D

I totally was skipping over one of your posts in another thread until I realized it was you, and you had changed your user name. :alienblush:

And here I was always thinking you were a Pens fan named Scott. Seriously. :p

My former username (mencc1701) used to be my primary internet ID, until I started transitioning over to this one.

Don't change it - iguana tonante is much cooler than just iguana. And like you say, we all know you are the iguana, so no change needed (and it's not that difficult to spell :) )

Back in the dim and distant, on other forums I was BarneyT, but once my sister came up with trampledamage and the pink elephant (when she was getting me to join LiveJournal), the name and the icon fitted me so well that I've never been anyone else since and don't foresee a change.

Well l do like my own name being used here.
I also like the way everyone will call me Angela without using the 0077

But was going to use the name of Bondgirl

I am a member of multiple boards around the web. At one point I was using a different handle for each one. But in the last two years I have changed them all to AstroSmurf. Not only does it make me easier to find and remember, it also makes it easier on me to remember the log in. (I am getting old and my memory is not what it once was.)

But over the years I have been Robot'iklan, Mog_the_Dog, CrapBag, ManicRobot, EasyCheese, Bag_of_Crazy, Anti_Drone, SluttySmurf and Uncle_Bitchy. But now I am totally happy with my current moniker. It says everything it should about me and I have no plans on changing it... ever. :bolian:

For a small amount of time I was known as Paranoid Tailor, but after a while got sick of it, went back to my current and original name. Also thought (ages ago) about shorting it, to just Elim. On other boards where I'm rather inactive, it's either Elim, Joel or Pazz.
