Which version of the script? The one that I know is out there is very different from the final product and would include the defunct ending before they did some reshoots.
I read Becall's first draft but am aware of the changes and re-shoots. I know the ending is different than the first draft. I would have really loved to have seen the Hilary Duff cameo that was written in too in the Lucas Lee scenes.

I just heard an interview at /Filmcast where Wright addressed that leaked draft and he said that he was co-writing since the beginning. Whoever copied the draft neglected to keep his name on it and even changed the title, because he said the film has always been called Scott Pilgrim vs. The World too. Just a factoid that I liked.
Personally, I'm glad they didn't do any forced cameos like that.

I really liked it. In preparation before the movie I read the first 5 books, which is ironic since the first 5 were faithfully adapted then the final book was completely altered for the film! The books were a little too relationship-y for my tastes, but I definitely enjoyed the movie. I really like how they visually added so many comic book bits (sound effects, etc).
I didn't terribly mind the different ending... but I was pissed that the twins didn't have their robots. I really liked the robots. The sound dragons were a little lame, but I guess they were trying to keep the music story more central to the conflict.

oh wow, this movie is currently at number 5 in boxoffice below inception (which has been out for like more than a month already).

I'm going to go see the movie, but not having read the graphic novel, does the movie end with a conclusion in accordance with the graphic novel story? I'm seeing it either way, just curious.

I've just read the first 2 volumes, ordered the third, hoping to see it as soon as it's released here in the UK, which isn't for another couple of weeks.
It's very faithful to the first four books, but then the last two books are drastically altered while keeping the same general events. I think this is because they were working on the movie before the last two books were actually finished by the author (kinda like Kick Ass, they hadn't done the final issue yet as the movie was filming).

Yeah, that's one of things I was thinking as I watched it--it's not something your average moviegoer would enjoy. It's too offbeat and strange and shamelessly ADD.
I'm sure it will find a following on DVD.Still, it cost at least $60 million to make. There's no way it's going to make that back in box office. Good thing it had an ending and no real need for a sequel.

Old fashioned R-rated action wins over silly comic book movie. Finally. My faith in the world just got a little restored.
