Andromeda Strain miniseries

I just watched the first disc of DVD of the 2 year old mini series after never seen it before. Since all the threads were 2 years old I thought I'd saw a new one.

I've never seen the 1970s film and still have to see disc 2 but so far I liked this modern mini series.
Decent production values, production design, and decent acting. It doesn't feel like it was milked for time.

For you guys 2 years later what are your thoughts now removed from seeing it a while?

I enjoyed it. It was nothing spectacular and I probably wouldn't bother to rewatch it, but I wanted to watch it through to the end which is more than I can say about some other mini-serieses.

I thought it was quite good as a remake, and that was even after having watched the original. Some things were changed, but for the most part, those changes worked.

It was okay right up to the point where it got into
the virus being intelligent, feeding off of nukes and eating plastic, taking out airplanes, and being sent back through a wormhole by humans from the future who couldn't stop it due to there being no more phage bacteria from deep sea volcanic vents that the President was advocating mining (which killed the bacteria).

I can put up with some pretty stupid things in my scifi, but not that much all at once, especially when held up against the original.

the middle three things were from both the original Crighton novel and were in the original film.

Like I said, I can put up with some of that, but it crossed the line and included even more silliness.
