I think the LA uses earth like weapons because Earth was so effective in defeating the Goa'uld with them. Why open yourself up to defeat like the Goa'uld before them?

They could've used Intar rounds if the producers were that desperate to not pat royalties for the Zats. They would've been perfect, since they turn a regular gun into a stun weapon simply by swapping out the ammo.

Very good episode. This may satisfy some of you who have been wanting more action.

So I wonder if Telford will be a regular on the show in season 2? I don't see him getting back to earth, or maybe they will kill him off.

I think Chloe and Eli are going to find something important in their wanderings.

I was also wondering if what's his name who possibly ascended had something to do with that guy getting fragged.

I liked seeing Jack tell Young to go back and take care of business.

So are they going to kill somebody off next week? Maybe.

I've never seen an alien invasion be so boring. It was great seeing the SG-1 cast again (minus Teal'c), but the Destiny stuff was just dull. Hopefully something interesting happens during part II.

Decent, but nothing special. 6/10.

I think the reason the LA thought they could initially take control of Destiny was that they thought they had a Stable base to gate back and forth to. They probably didn't need to recover the ship, all they wanted was the ancient knowledge or ancient tech.

As of this episode, it makes no sense how they got a system to perfectly unlock those doors. I don't think Telford was an Ancient Locksmith. ;)

I like how Cloe and Eli found a new part of the ship. Though with Cloe shot in the leg, maybe they will find a med lab or the like.

I was just as surprised as the characters to learn that the planet will still blow up even when you dial the Destiny without being under attack. That's a shame. There probably aren't enough naquadria-cored planets in the universe to make any kind of two-way travel practical. Or, hell, one-way travel.

I'm interested in what the LA commander let slip about them looking for a specific discovery aboard Destiny. One she expected the Tau'ri were looking for, too.

My guess is that there's some kind of exotic radiation being put out by the star in the system Destiny stopped in which stopped-up the FTL, started playing hell with the computers, and dissolved an unfortunate gunman when the shield he was standing under started to slip.

Re: SG-U

So how did the LA expect to contact home? The stones are on Earth

What I'm wondering is just what they think they're going to do with the ship, which is a bazillion light years from anything.

Just one more character who thinks its her sestiny to command... something. Shouldn't they have shot up all their 5.56mm by now?

I was just as surprised as the characters to learn that the planet will still blow up even when you dial the Destiny without being under attack.

They were under attack. They insisted that Rush speed things up and dial out immediately, he warned them that it would probably blow everything up... and lo, everything blew up. I'm sure that did wonders for his ego. "Rush is right", indeed.

There probably aren't enough naquadria-cored planets in the universe to make any kind of two-way travel practical.

Don't worry-- if we don't tell the Lucian Alliance about the next one we find, there may still be a chance!

I'm interested in what the LA commander let slip about them looking for a specific discovery aboard Destiny. One she expected the Tau'ri were looking for, too.

If the answer isn't some heretofore unknown way to dial Earth, I'll be disappointed. Nothing else justifies the Alliance coming there unless they have a way to get back.

But regardless of the answer, it will still be a little weird. How can they possibly know as much as they seem to about this ship? Maybe they've hacked the Asgard database or someone put their head into an Ancient archive.

My guess is that there's some kind of exotic radiation being put out by the star in the system Destiny stopped in which stopped-up the FTL, started playing hell with the computers, and dissolved an unfortunate gunman when the shield he was standing under started to slip.

My thought, too.

After all this she's still going to sleep with Scott.

I know right LMAO

Nice guys finish last. He has a chance after she gets old and has two or three kids. Maybe when she is 42 or 43 he may get his shot.

Word.

Anyway...*medical supplies*!? Since when did the Lucian Alliance start caring about it's own people?

That LA leader lady looked genuinely worried/upset when she looked at that one wounded guy she asked the pregnant medic to fix...I'm thinking that guy is special to her...maybe a brother or boyfriend...and that's why she wants medical supplies?

Or is it just she's trying to keep all the soldiers she can? But having to care for sick and injured comrades can be a liability...so I figure the LA would just put a bullet in the head of anyone who would hold them back, and move on...

No...she's gotta have some emotional ties to the injured man we saw...I'm guessing...

The Lucien Alliance plot still makes absolutely no sense, unless these super planets are so common that you can just find them by accident.

I'm sure this has been covered, but I can only see this ending one of two ways:
1) Like Sheppard with the Genii on Atlantis, the military makes some form of comeback and is able to take back control of the ship. The LA guys are abandoned on some Class M planet.
2) They pull a Voyager and integrate the crews as they are stuck with each other. LA girl is the Chakotay to Young's Janeway.

There's also a possible #3, but I can't imagine they'd pull something like this off - the LA crew takes over Destiny and they become the main characters of the show. It would genuinely be the biggest surprise outcome. SGC is forced to co-operate because of the hostages and offer support and the former crew of Destiny is forced to work under the LA.

Honestly, I don't know how invested I can be in the outcome of this siege. At least when the exact same thing happened on Atlantis, we got Sheppard being bad ass and going Die Hard on the Genii because he had nothing to lose. Here, Young couldn't even vent the gate room (even though he was perfectly willing to let Rush die alone way back when).

Oh, I guess O'neill was cute with the pyramid joke... but otherwise, the cameos were rather pointless and are almost reminders of the peak of the series, sort of when Voyager had Troi and Barkley show up constantly for no reason. They might as well have had Teyla show up at the SGC since she has nothing better to do.

Young is such an idiot. He should have disconnected the stones and cut the air the moment the any Lucian Alliance members got through the gate. In fact, he should have cut the air prior to the gate even being opened (letting Earth know that was the plan).

Young should have made the gate room a vacuum in advance. All the LA guys coming through would have died immediately. Then it would have just been a matter of collecting all the goodies they brought and throwing their bodies out an airlock. He could have just cut off the stones before hand to ensure that Rush was back. He shouldn't have left everyone at risk at the hands of ruthless mobster types that would kill without hesitation.

I was expecting the LA troops to employ Gould shock grenades to immediately disable resistance. I guess that falls under the Zat cheapo avoidance rule. They want to avoid paying some writer or something.

After all this she's still going to sleep with Scott.

Nice guys finish last.
You actually have to be in the race to finish last and following a girl around like a love-sick puppy dog sure doesn't qualify.

Young is such an idiot. He should have disconnected the stones and cut the air the moment the any Lucian Alliance members got through the gate. In fact, he should have cut the air prior to the gate even being opened (letting Earth know that was the plan).
It definitely doesn't make sense that he didn't vent the gate room before it was even activated. One of the other scientists questioned Young on it so maybe (hopefully) they're going somewhere with it.

I'm not a hard sell. I'll take any excuse to keep Rhona Mitra around a while longer.

When Rohona started issuing orders/demands to Young, two words appeared in my head forthright: "Fuck Voyager".

It's not going to be until season 3 or 4 that they figure out that they can dial up other destiny class star ships, and the network of ancient ships seeding the Universe with Stargates does indeed SPAN THE UNIVERSE. hells if they keep jumping from ship to ship, they'll eventually find the super shp which is fabricating destiny class Star Ships to seed the universe with Staragtes.

The series has broader implications. :)

I'll take any excuse to keep Rhona Mitra around a while longer.

I don't know... I guess she's kind of hot in that "if I let her take a strap-on to me that doesn't mean I'm gay, does it?" kind of way...

But as an actual villain... the level of cheese with her leather getup and the whole Lucian Alliances is just so far up the corny scale it feels beneath even the Stargate franchise.

Anyway, I gave this episode a 3/10. I believe that this show has the potential to create a true, bottom of the bucket, worst episode ever which I'm saving that 1/10 for.

Nothing in this episode was very interesting. The Eli and Chloe shit was pointless and bad, and I don't see it going anywhere good. It staying pointless is the best case scenario. If they find something to magically save everyone next week then it'll be even worse.

So.... 'killling' someone and bringing them back breaks the brainwash... I honestly don't recall when the Goa'uld brainwashing was used so I'll take their word for it. But it seemed strange that he just assumed it would work despite the swappy stones. Have they established what happens when someone dies while swappy stoned?

But yeah, why wouldn't Young get Rush back ASAP? I also agree that he should've preemptively vented the atmosphere. Or if he really didn't want to do that I mean seriously... how hard is it to setup a defensive position in the gate room? Get everybody behind a little bit of cover and keep their weapons trained on the gate... it's a damned turkey shoot. Even if they weren't flying through the gate like...uhhh flighted turkeys...

Aside from the lack of interesting tactical setup, the brief firefight was bland as hell. And someone had a good point about the LA not using Goa'uld weaponry. They rolled through there armed like Jack Bauer... am I crazy or did they have laser sights?

Since people love to compare SGU to BSG... the intraship combat was a joke. BSG did it much better.

Wray's negotiating was an annoying scene... I guess it gave her something to do, but her 'In our society' monologue was just obnoxious. Shut your trap and die already, bitch

The SG1 appearances were wasted for the most part again, but at least they had the characters doing stuff that made sense compared to the covert surveillance Daniel Jackson crap.

Usually the setup episode is the good one and then the resolution cops out in some way pissing you off. Here the setup is ass... so what does that mean, the payoff will be even more disappointing? You can do it SGU, that 1/10 rating is waiting for you!

2) They pull a Voyager and integrate the crews as they are stuck with each other. LA girl is the Chakotay to Young's Janeway.

I'm all for Lara Croft joining the show permanently, think that could be awesome.

And the rest of the LA people will provide plenty of Red Shirts for next season.

Overall though, this ep wasn't that great, last ep was awesome, this one was weak, hopefully it's all set-up for the season finale cliffhanger.

But, considering who wrote this episode and part 2, I'm not holding out too much hope.

In fact, going by who wrote this eps, I can probably guess with 98% accuracy, how they will resolve a couple things.
