The uniforms of the Silurian soldiers in the trailer for next week remind me of the tunics worn by (male) soldiers in the Roman Empire. It wouldn't surprise me if the costume department had that in mind when designing the uniforms.

From what I can tell in the trailer, there's only one Silurian soldier speaking, who just happens to be a woman. It's possible that the Silurian military has males and females, and it just happens that their commander is female.

I'm kinda hoping they went with all women to play the Silurians. Then at least we can explain the bulgy chests as 'poison glands' or something, rather than ' the females have boobies'.

Hmmm. Drama asserts love early on? Chances of Rory survival: slim.

Well, in the deleted scene didn't the Doctor caution that time is not fixed? That the future can be changed; but that in the current version, yes they did get a happy ending (granted it felt as if he said it in that sort of parent/grandparent patronizing a child way he has with Amy from time to time)

Actually watching it again, it looked like the TARDIS was right outside the church.

But there was a quick line by the Doctor about the forcefield messing up the time or energy circuits or something, saying that it would actually be faster to set things up in the church.

Above average. It was certainly better than good, but as many have remarked - a lot of it was setup. I liked the slow build up, personally.

You have to wonder why the Beeb can't just let these things run an hour if they need to (which they do occasionally). I suppose you have to pick your battles. I can't think of many other BBC shows with a 45 minute running time. Can anyone?

Must be to sell the show abroad (ie with adverts?). Thats the only reason I can think of.

I voted good. It seemed understated to me. And as others have said, all setup.

Not fussed on the Silurian redesign.

It's odd. I'd normallly rattle on about this and that... but I dunno. Maybe next ep.

    Best line in the ep:

"Oh, Ambrose, you're better than this! I'm asking nicely... put them away."

    The steel underneath. Wow.

Smith's Doctor has the creepy-scarry thing going. He's your buddy, your pal, but every now and then you get a look at the insanity, the rage, boiling just beneath, and you start getting nervous about being around the guy; cause you know when he blows, he's taking everything around him with him and you know he knows and he just doesn't care.

It's a feeling that Timelord Victorious never went away, just that Doctor is resting, thinking, plotting always in the back of his mind. Time's going to be his bitch, one way or the other.

Pretty much, Robin Hood, Merlin, and Torchwood are the others I can think of. Torchwood and Robin Hood were both BBC America Co-productions, Doctor Who was a co-production with CBC for the first few series too. I think to a certain extent the fact that they're expensive shows means they rely on BBC Worldwide money to make them, so do their best to make them easily saleable in a commercial market.

I watched this again last night, and just wanted to put in that it was made clear why only Nasreen, Ambrose and the bloke from Torchwood were around. The episode starts with all the workers leaving for the weekend and they all commute to work. I gather Elliot's dad was just there on Friday night to keep an eye on things.

^Yeah, I watched it again last night and caught the bit about how the Silurian's poison sac would take 24 hours to replenish explaining why she couldn't just kill them all!

Still think it's a good episode. Love lots of Matt Smith bits, and especially love Amy who can still be arsey trapped in a transparent coffin. "Did you just shush me?"

Just a thought: we've had an awful lot of 'only got X minutes' episodes this season - in fact, in both parts of this story alone.

Could someone with recordings run through them and collect the actual times. Are they getting shorter each time? Or am I imagining it?

Not to keep banging away on this too much, but DNA analysis is irrelevant to my argument. Although DNA results have been of great assistance to sorting out some of the finer points of where certain organisms are situated on the evolutionary tree, the big basic decisions of whether to class an organism as plant, mammal, insect or whatever, has not been affected.

Basically, you've just discovered a new species of upright, intelligent, humanoid reptile. Where abouts on the tree do you put it?

Do you put it in the genus Homo, slap bang in the middle of the mammalian section of the tree ?

    If so, why?
